The AI wife picking has been much improved in 1.03, so that now AI rulers at least try to find a young wife to marry rather than accepting any old hag. However, they still seem to completely ignore the potential bride's traits, and will happily marry a depressed, crazy, leprous 18-year old. Many a time I have pawned off my less than stellar daughters on unsuspecting AI rulers. 
This is something that should be looked at for 1.04.
