I'm trying out lots of game hands off with insignificant countries just to see how the AI is handling the big powers.
I'm noticing a lot of strange European Neutrals behaviour.
Luxembourg, Hollland, Belgium and Norway are consistently committing suicided by DOWing the Axis. They are then promptly wipped out. I don't think this is a War entry issue as the ones I looked at are low eg. 8%
I haven't been paying too much attention to this, but it definitely seems ahistorical. They only guarentee their own destruction.
In RL no neutral neighbouring the Axis every DOWed them, obviously the likes of Brazil had a rather better protective moat than the Albert Canal !

Has anyone else noticed this happening regularly ?

I saw Romania DOW the Soviets all on their own. It took the Soviets a couple of months, but it was pretty obvious who was going to win...

They did this right after the Soviets demanded Bessarabia. Perhaps it was tied to the demand somehow?

Code:
event = {
	id = 2700
	random = no
	country = ROM

	# Triggered by SOV 2606

	name = "EVT_2700_NAME"
	desc = "EVT_2700_DESC"
	style = 0

	action_a = {
		name = "ACTIONNAME2700A" # Accept
		command = { type = secedeprovince which = SOV value = 763 }
		command = { type = secedeprovince which = SOV value = 767 }
		command = { type = trigger value = 2607 } # SOV
	}
	action_b = {
		name = "ACTIONNAME2700B" # Refuse
		command = { type = war which = SOV } # Romania should be forced to declare the war, since the Axis and Soviets have an agreement
		command = { type = alignment which = fascist value = 50 }
		command = { type = trigger value = 2608 } # SOV
	}
}

If the Romanians refuse to hand over Bersberiabia then they will declare war ont he Soviets. So that one is ok. As for the others anyone else noticing it, because it sounds wrong. Deomcracies cannot declare war till their WE is 100.

Hmm, the Romania event is scripted then, but IMO, its backward. If they don't hand over bessarabia, then the Soviets should DOW...

The small amount of dissent won't save Romania, but at least it would make it more realistic...

Well it seems very odd I shall get round to some 39 hands off just to see what the neutrals are upto.

Just ran a hands off 39 hard normal as costa rica...
0.00 25th Sept 39 Belguim DOW Germany with WE at 9 o'clock
0.00 25th Sept 39 Luxemborg DOW Germany with WE at 1.30
Later in Sept 39 Norway DOW Germany with WE at 4 o'clock
Holland hadn't done it by October 39 when I stopped it.

This all seems rather too tramlines to me, the countries that were invade in 40, jump in first. Doesn't their reasons for neutrality need to be modelled.
Strangely all the games I've played hands off, with the Eastern Front in mind, I haven't seen Sweden, Turkey or Switzerland attack the Germans yet, something Switzerland had a habbit of doing in previous patches.
