Same thing is happening in my Holland game. They may have nerfed France too much.
I would go that far, maybe the game is just more random now... which is a very good thing cause it will make the world not so predictable.
France - Anyway in my current game 1499 (im The Hansa and haven't affected many ppl besides other core HRE countries) France own almost all of France now, except for 2 provinces owned by England. France also took out Aragon and 1/2 of Castille. So in 100 years they are more powerful in my game than they'd typically be in IN. (BTW, they have a standing army of 142k atm

)
Burgandy - started off really good take around 15-20 provinces, and then Bankruptcy hit them around 20 times to totaly collapse them down to 1 province
England - Owns all of GB but hasn't formed it yet.
OE - was destoyed around 1450, they went bankrupt a few times and lost all their asian provinces from it. Then had rebels take their Euro provinces and divided up.
Denmark - Had got a royal union with Sweden and Norway and formed Scandinavia around 1440
Byz - I wasnt paying much attention, but they lost Thrace early and was left with Monroe. Over the next 30 years they moved their capital 3 times and finally have it in Larrison for the last 50 years (they have 4 provinces total)
Russia - as someone else said its been a total mess (which makes it very fun) there have been no less than 4 countries take a stong hold and control around 40% of the area, just to have it lost within a few years time.
just some interesting things i'v notice in my first Httt game
