AI definitely more aggressive..seems like the stability problem from IN even worse. Only saw one -1 nation in over 60 years. Waiting for the right to time to attack is just boring now. Over half the time I checked every nation in the world was in positive stab(all but a handful +3). PI should do something about this harmonious world - more stab hits, natural disasters, devasting plagues, etc..unless this game is an anomaly.

The Big Blue Blob has ceased to exist in my Ottoman game (had nothing to do with it) before 1500. Now where France used to be, there are five "minors" (Britanny, Normandy, Guyenne, Flanders and Burgundy) and provinces owned by Aragon and Great Britain. Russia is a huge brawl where nations appear, expand rapidly, then disappear in five years again.

Same thing is happening in my Holland game. They may have nerfed France too much. Aragon had them half-occupied with the help of England and Burgundy. England got to southern provinces, Aragon WP'd out and then got overrun by Castille, and Burgundy still has a couple provinces of France occupied, but most of France is controlled by rebels now, including Paris.

Well, the game does have other start dates, ya know. The 1399 situation is inherently unstable.

No start date is as good as 1399.

It is just a comment that while we expected France to be weaker, we didn't expect France to fall as commonly as it seems to be doing right now. It seems they went from one extreme to the other. However, we have a relatively small sample batch to analyze, so this may be overreaction and it is more of an average number of falls and blobs in the long run.

A mean comment given the amount of effort put into making the history files.

It's a legitimate objection to your claim. The 1399 situation isn't supposed to be the most stable ever. There is an obvious solution - don't start at a date when France is in the crapper.

De gustibus non disputandum.

You won't be surprised to hear that IMO, 1399 is my very least favorite start date. At a minimum, I wouldn't start until Henry V is on England's throne.

I don't think France is too weak, it feels to me that the 1399 scenario just have it start in a very unfavourable geopolitical situation. It's a hard balance to strike though, to have the BBB strong enough without being the monster it often is.

With the way the HRE is now, France in 1399 is doomed to fall. Too many vassals, No cores on a large chunk of modern day France. England and Burgundy have significantly been improved. In about 3 games spanning 1399 to 1500, France has always become part of some other nation before or slightly after the 1512 reformation. :(

In fact, the moment France starts any war that involves the HRE, France will be doomed to collapse soon after.

France would be fine if it were a bit less aggressive before it consolidates its holdings. They try to do too much too soon and end up in a war with Brittany, England, Aragon, Burgundy, and the Emperor at the same time.

In my first game I played as France, the plan was to just mess around and try the new features. Got kinda suprised how much harder it is, can´t remember when I had problems playing them before. Got beaten up kind of bad by Burgundy and the English and gave up that game

Started a new one as Castille, quickly conquered Aragon and Portugal, and som parts of northern africa. Hey with France that weak I didn´t care about my infamy, all went fine until I conquered Rousillon and got a border with them, their army was 3-4x my size and with superior generals :D. Got steamrolled again :D

In my third game now, playing France again. This time I´ve been more careful and all is going well so far. The most fun part so far was when I got dowed by Castille, defeated their armies, forced them to release Granada (and one more minor) the second after the peace was written all their neighbours and England dowed them and now its not much left of them :D

Yes, it's a lot harder than before. I keep getting slaughtered in battles even though I have more troops than the other guy - I think it has something to do with morale or military tactics. I also noticed that if you pass the Statute in Restraint of Appeals you're basically guarenteed to get excommunicated and if that happens you're basically guaranteed to get DOW'd - so passing it early to prepare for an eventual conversion to Protestantism is out unless you know you can win. HTTT is great, but I think it needs a little tweaking.

Just to give another example of France in HTTT, in my current game as Portugal, France has gone through two rises and falls in just 70 years. At first it was beat up by Burgandy, England, Castille and Savoy until it was down to about 8 provinces and even Brittany was DOWing them. Then Burgandy collapsed, France took most of the scraps and took back about 7 provinces that England had on the mainland. Then France's armies got destroyed by Castille, France collapsed and a lot of French minors rose up. 10 years later, France had re-conquered most of them, and was back near the top of income and army numbers.

Everything just seems to much more volatile, as least in my first game. Out east in Russia it's been ever worse

Same thing is happening in my Holland game. They may have nerfed France too much.

I would go that far, maybe the game is just more random now... which is a very good thing cause it will make the world not so predictable.

France - Anyway in my current game 1499 (im The Hansa and haven't affected many ppl besides other core HRE countries) France own almost all of France now, except for 2 provinces owned by England. France also took out Aragon and 1/2 of Castille. So in 100 years they are more powerful in my game than they'd typically be in IN. (BTW, they have a standing army of 142k atm  )

Burgandy - started off really good take around 15-20 provinces, and then Bankruptcy hit them around 20 times to totaly collapse them down to 1 province

England - Owns all of GB but hasn't formed it yet.

OE - was destoyed around 1450, they went bankrupt a few times and lost all their asian provinces from it. Then had rebels take their Euro provinces and divided up.

Denmark - Had got a royal union with Sweden and Norway and formed Scandinavia around 1440

Byz - I wasnt paying much attention, but they lost Thrace early and was left with Monroe. Over the next 30 years they moved their capital 3 times and finally have it in Larrison for the last 50 years (they have 4 provinces total)

Russia - as someone else said its been a total mess (which makes it very fun) there have been no less than 4 countries take a stong hold and control around 40% of the area, just to have it lost within a few years time.

just some interesting things i'v notice in my first Httt game

Well, I think the reason France dies and rises and dies again is because of the new AI really. The AI seems to love to DOW countries that show even SLIGHT weakness.

Agreed. I think it's become too aggressive. That a lot of the new CB's are just easy excuses to start a war for the sake of starting a war isn't helping (excommunicated ruler, holy war, etc.), either.
