AI has become even more retarded in 1.18/1.19

So I was playing as Cherokee for the achievement grand duchy(Got it) and No trail of tears. I united , reformed caught up and am the second largest/strongest power on the planet. Unfortunately, since I dint have the time(or means) to stop the vile spaniards from settling in Mexico and canada, and so, I was DOWed on and was forced into a one sided war against the Spanish(third strongest power), who were allied with Portugal and its illegal offsprings in South america . But I was able to hold my own and I signed a white peace with 25 warscore because apparantly the Spanish AI being retarded thought it was so strong as an alliance despite having its asses handed to it on silver platter and I dint want to waste my time on a war with a retarded AI when I had to run a 7 loan economy to keep with the tech/institutions

So I allied with the French, who were the fourth strongest in the world, only as a deterrent against the Spaniards from starting a pointless war against me again because the AI is fully retarded. I was just expanding around and was paying off my loans and making my army even bigger and all that cool stuff because I knew the AI was stupid. Then, my faithful ally the french called me into a rather one sided war against Provence. I saw Provence being allied to Great britain, and hence prepared to face GB and its illegal offsprings in North america. I honored the call to arms and had hoped that the French, now the third largest army in the world, to take care of the problem very quickly. But since the new mechanic allows Great powers to join wars on unbalanced power ups, Spain joined the war on the side of provence .

And this is where the AI was infuriatingly retarded.

1. All through the war, French AI being the simpleton it was, dint even go after the war goal. I think the AI team, being very good at its job, decided to program how the player would react to these kinds of wars and decided that the best thing for the AI to do is to fight the allies of the war to get them out rather than going after the war goals. So , even after 7 years of war, provence capital, which dint even have a fort besides the capital fort, remained free despite the French having a free hand in the European mainland.

2. The AI attains negative IQ status(mathematical impossibility but the AI in this version manages it somehow) with respect to new fort sieges. It keeps seiging down forts on coast without blockade. Then after a long drawn out siege, it dis engages from siege, which had progressed for 2 years+ to engage in a losing battle completely negating the point of sieging it down for so long. This is what happend in my game . the french AI seemed more interested in taking coastal Spanish forts with no blockade than go after its war goals , and it made no progress whatsoever because after three years, it would have given up the siege and the province will be free

3. Then the Spanish AI. It was beaten again, this time even more soundly than before. It already knew it was going to attack/join war and so it had transported majority of its army(75%) to North America. But It got its butt kicked again, because it was pathetic at picking fights, despite the cheats it has built in. But did it change anything? No. Of course not. I had to keep playing whack a mole with Spain and its illegal spawns in the continent from Canada to Peru. Of course the AI being so smart is allowed to cheat its way into tactics by knowing what my troops in Peru are going to do and react to it in canada the very next day. So there was no stack wipes.

4. Provence AI was another turd. It kept dragging the war on and on and on despite being massively outnumbered , with low enthusiasm, and war exhaustion of 10 running massive deficit/loans. And when I tried offering white piece because I was tired of this war, it woulnt accept it because it had a 4% warscore on me by occupying my non fort provinces because there is only so much whack a mole a Human can play on so many fronts. Unlike the Cheating AI, I dont have the forethought to know where the AI is going to deploy its troops.

In the end, the retarded French AI starts a one sided war, which it can easily win, because I was dealing with the main army Spain, which I finally wiped out after 6 years of whack a mole, and yet failed to win it because it was too retarded to prioritise which target to go after. The retarded Provence AI wouldnt take my white peace offer, despite me being responsible for 77% of the casualties on their alliance, with massive war exhaustion and low enthusiasm because it found that its 4% warscore on me was worth fighting me. the Spanish AI was less retarded by it was irritating as hell to play whack a mole, specially now that the AI knows when to bolt from a fight and does mid coarse/battle correction from knowing mouse clicks of the players

Of course, I would preferably stay away from these shitty AI allies , but then I had to deal with my original problem of having to deal with retarded AI which simply wastes my time and would not quit. And all of this whack a mole was all for nothing because France ended giving white peace to Provence, despite having the strongest power(Ottomans), Second strongest power(Cherokee .ie, me) and Third strongest power(France) on their side with nearly half a million causalties( so there wasnt even any achievement)

Seriously paradox, fix the AI and its stupidity. If the war had went on for just one more year, I would have rage quit (and it would have been no fault of my own).

Don't feel bad, I lost my "No Trail of Tears" achievement because Spain got a PU over France while being allied to GB and Spain had colonized all of South America and the remaining portion of North America that I had not colonized/conquered. Even though I was the #2 Great Power, Spain was unbeatable for me. So I had to wait out the game trying to break out of my corner to no avail.

I haven't played 1.19 yet and can't say if anything changed. However, my usual comment is: You can always find a situation where the AI behaves stupidly, upload to bug forum if you can catch it in a save, then AI programmer can evaluate whether it's worth fixing that particular case (compared to the myriad of others impacted).

A known issue with 1.18 AI was its indecisiveness in going after war goal and besieging forts in enemy territory. The reason for it being made that way at all was because it made sense for AI armies to try to stay alive given the severe penalties for sieging in hostile terrain. However, in the limited development time available it couldn't be perfected and it really needs to be continuously improved to be kept up-to-date with rule changes anyway.

I also think the AI is worse than before.
-> It doesn't care about wargoals (my vassal did not try once to siege its CORE which was the wargoal, but instead went to Corfu, and had its 14k men blocked there - quite useful when you fight Venice, right ?)
-> It doesn't care about sieges (my ally was chasing useless 1k stacks instead of relieving its own provinces of the sieges they had to suffer)
-> It can't see when the war is finally going on our side (which made my ally sign a disavantaging separate peace when we could kick the enemy's ass - which would have been easier if the AI was not as dumb)
-> It does not understand the concept of "having fewer men" (Aragon sending its 4k men against my 11k stack), or "crossing straits" (Sardaina sending its 3k men against Corsica and its 4k men)

I don't know where and when the AI became worse, was it to counter-balance the fact that it now can build things and use more diplomatic options ?

Edit : Just to be clear, I'm not saying that the team working on the AI is completely dumb or does a bad work, I know it's a very difficult task, and these dozens or hundreds AI may obviously behave strangely sometimes, but when it's so impactful it might be a problem

The AI in my games seems to be incapable of sieging enemy capitals (even when they don't have forts and are located in plains), despite having wiped out their armies and occupied the rest of their provinces. I've also seen them stack all of their armies (sometimes up to 150k men...) in one single province (often with low development in mountains...) during peace time, resulting in crazy attrition and THEN declare war on their neighbors with 0 manpower and after losing half of their stack.

@Mad Indian if you think calling other people's work retarded will get anything done, then you're the real retard here.
Are you triggered ? May be i should have put trigger warning sign first. And Yeah calling AI retarded is same as calling people retarded. Keep your fanboyism to urself. Frankly, this fanboyism is actually negative for improvement of Paradox

Yes, the AI has never been this retarded (not even in the early days of EU IV which is ironic).

Edit: Since I don´t want to be terribly unfair the AI has become better in many ways but since 1.18 it has become much worse during war time to the point of under many circumstances being an afterthought (as an enemy), a complete and utter pushover due to their lack of coordination, carpet siege fixation, brain-dead level of strategical decisions (not new but augmented due to the 1.18 changes) , etc., etc. (…)
