I don't know if it's just me, but in about 7 of the 10 or so 1.5 games I have started, England is getting eaten by Scotland and forced to release Wales and Cornwall! This can't be intended.

The AI can't cope with England like a human can.

They start in the Hundred Years War with 4 war exhaustion, which keeps on growing at a fast rate.

They lose their continental forces to France within the first month.

They continue to do suicide invasions of France.

King Henry VI sucks and they get behind on tech/don't get an heir, which leads to War of the Roses and rebels.

The AI notices these weaknesses, and attacks.

Seeing what a big advantage Scotland has if it DoW's with these prerequisites, it's not hard to see why AI England is sometimes releasing Wales and Cornwall or giving provinces to Scotland.

After they get off their feet though, I usually see England take back everything, and conquer Scotland.

Well, in my only 1.5 game so far I am kind of worried about England, they own all of Scottland and Ireland, and I just know they will be colonizing like crazy. I did get to kill 15 of their troops who dared land on my shores, but they don't seem to be having the rebel trouble I witnessed back in 1.32.

Although England starts with a bleak future, only occasionally do I see Scotland eating England, and I've only seen a Scottish GB once. England usually fights back and takes over Scotland.

England is definitely the biggest rise and fall nation in the hands of the AI, kind of interesting. They suck at the start with the HYW and the crappy king, losing continental possessions and being hit by rebels and stagnation. Then they rise up and annex all of Ireland and Scotland within several years, owning all of the British Isles. Then they convert to Protestant too soon during the Reformation, getting absolutely demolished by Catholic zealots and being force converted back. After that they can either rise up again or fade into obscurity.

I once saw England really get thrashed by the Reformation. 1/3 of the country went Protestant, 1/3 stayed Catholic, and the rest went Reform. Eventually everything became Reform, but it had a really rough time for a long time.

Its performance is subpar on land and I bet spanking them as Scotland is VERY easy nowadays.

UK´s AI has to learn to send stacks to merge with allies and only invade solo if it has the advantage in TOTAL numbers. What the AI does is sending stacks in a place just because it sees no enemies, begins to siege, and is instawiped.

England...Well I usually have them divided. Or they become divided when protestantism comes.
In one of my playthroughs, they succeed in conquering the isles. Then they fall under a castillan PU. Then after the annexation all hell broke loose.
The provinces rebelled, Lancaster, Ireland and Scotland were formed and a couple provinces in the south got gobleb up by France somehow. Scotland managed to reunite them and after religious turmoil they divided again.. By the end of the game England had a couple Caribbean provinces, Scotland had reclaimed the mainland of England and there were a couple french provinces still.

They are crazy those Brits

England's starting position in the midst of losing the 100 Years' War is not easy for the AI to handle, and they can easily suffer a period of early weakness where Scotland is able to win a war and take some land/release Cornwall.

That said, even after this point, England is still bigger than Scotland, and by far the biggest power on the British Isles. I have seen AI England lose that early war to Scotland and then proceed to turn around and destroy Scotland in a retaliatory war 20 years later once they have rebuilt, because they still have more manpower and income. This has happened a couple times in games that I have played, and then England goes on over the course of the game to annex Scotland and form GB. I've also seen England be relatively strong from the beginning and take out Scotland early, and I've actually only seen AI Scotland completely dominate England and form GB one time.

Obviously, this is all anecdotal, but I don't see England getting destroyed very often, and even if they are weakened and lose the first war against Scotland, they generally seem to still be more powerful than Scotland afterwards, and can make a comeback once they've gotten past the messy early years.
