Yeah, since 1.5 especially, I noted that there were a lot of "stupid" calls -- truce breaking, unreasonable boldness by a small nation hoping to drag you into a raging world war when your manpower is near spent to zero, and so on.
I really, really, really wish that the AI first asked a proposition: "An ambassador from (ally nation) arrives on an urgent secret mission. He wants to ask your ruler if you would support an invasion of (other nation). Would you support their claims by answering a call to war? (Yes/No)."
The ally should gauge interest that way *first.* And, even more importantly, they might ask "What would you want in return if you were called into the war? (name your preferential price -- money, territory, etc.)
Right now, the AI makes a heck of a lot of foolish DOWs that you would have easily told them to put on hold, or kibbosh entirely, if it were your human player buddy.
