OP, please make bug report.

Someone else raised a similar thread a few days ago, but did not raise bug report. Not obvious that Poland would want to deliberately trash your alliance (& try to damage you in the process) from the situation displayed. So seems a fairly clear AI miscalculation in its decision to make DoW at this time.

Wiz needs to be alerted to this.

On reflection, Poland declaring war NOW, when TO only has LO as ally is not in itself unreasonable. But the Call to Arms to you certainly is.

I've had one today where Austria (allied to, royal marriage, and 200 relations) asked me to break truce with a nation I was not only allied to, but also had a royal marriage and good relations with. So would have resulted in a -8 stability bonus.

Oh, and this was Arnesberg (I think), which only had two provinces and no army and I was the only ally which made me wonder why Austria needed to help. I guess because it wanted me to be on their side of the war rather then theirs I guess? But I don't think the AI actually has coding to think like that (correct me if I'm wrong), so I think it could be a slight bug. After all, there is a system in place to prevent the player from calling AI allies that would suffer from breaking truce.

And I've had this happen a few times as well, although I do as StatikShocker does and quit the game before reloading.

shortly after, Poland broke the alliance because of "threatened" attitude, even though I was like 7 province brandenburg. At 200 relations. Then, Denmark broke the alliance for no clear purpose. Poland and Denmark declare war, calling in England, Norway, Lithuania, Pomerania, and Muscovy. My ally Sweden joins, my other ally Austria mc giant habsblob dishonors the call... and I get annexed. So that was a shit game in general.

Brandenburg its a hard country to play in some games, you have to be patient and take care of a lot of countries, and of course, get some good allies.

Yeah, since 1.5 especially, I noted that there were a lot of "stupid" calls -- truce breaking, unreasonable boldness by a small nation hoping to drag you into a raging world war when your manpower is near spent to zero, and so on.

I really, really, really wish that the AI first asked a proposition: "An ambassador from (ally nation) arrives on an urgent secret mission. He wants to ask your ruler if you would support an invasion of (other nation). Would you support their claims by answering a call to war? (Yes/No)."

The ally should gauge interest that way *first.* And, even more importantly, they might ask "What would you want in return if you were called into the war? (name your preferential price -- money, territory, etc.)

Right now, the AI makes a heck of a lot of foolish DOWs that you would have easily told them to put on hold, or kibbosh entirely, if it were your human player buddy.

funny that the AI has red x so you know not to call them. they can say no for "in debt", "coridal attitude" whatever the hell they want. But they call you based on hidden calculations, which they are much more liberal with, which apparently become unblanced after 1.5. some metric isn't lining up, this isn't WAD, I think.

It also brings up the idea that the game seems "broken" because there are not "offensive" vs. "defensive" alliances. Basically, you can't say "I'll help you if you get attacked, but don't expect me to help you conquer the world."

This would be so good. Although with some of the cheeky little nations its more like "I'll help you if you get attacked, but don't expect me to conquer the world for you."

funny that the AI has red x so you know not to call them.

It used to be the AI would assume you were another AI when deciding whether you 'would' accept a call to arms, which seems fair. Sounds like 1.5 either broke this, or there are a lot of AI running around with -3 stability . . . .
