So in my second example, it seems that Austria randomly allied with Brunswick and was then called in? Ok, I'll buy that, but it really shouldn't happen - I think I preferred it when there was a time limit on calling in allies - as it stands the diplomacy screen for DOW is a bit approximate, to say the least.

There is a limit on warscore, if I remember correctly over 25% for enemy and the allies don't join wars.

I should write some sort of posting bot to reply to any thread with the words 'AI' and 'cheat' in it.

No, AI does not cheat in either of these cases. I would need a repro save on the Austria situation to tell you what's going on there.

While op just doesn't know the game mechanics, the fact that EU hides its rules on a routine basis including both issues brought up leaves only some blame on him. Devs will always carry some on issues like this until basic gameplay rules are reasonably learnable without trial and error.

Wasnt there a sticky on how the AI cheats or did you remove it due to being outdated?

Except there is a post outlining exactly how the AI cheats and people apparently think it's there just for show.
That outline is on the forum, which a small percentage of players see, is not always obvious, was wrong about attrition for months due to a bug, and can't really keep up with hidden mechanics changes.

None of which would be issues to the same degree if one could know the rules without jumping through hoops. People would still complain, but less often and less justified because they would be able to easily tell when something is possible and see the ai advantage or lack thereof immediately.

The only case of blatant ai cheating I've encountered is just recently in a war against Russia as the Ottomans. I had ten stacks of 45k troops storming their borders with a small stack of 30k in north Africa and another 30k stack of merc infantry in Anatolia that I was building up for assault sieges. Russias only ally was a small Prussia, neither of them had fleets in the Med. A Russian stack managed to sneak through and made a beeline for my mercs which it had no business of knowing they were there. It promptly afterwards made a beeline for my stack in Africa, even after I moved the stack away from the coastline just in case. Usually I don't see the ai act like that and it's pretty good at pretending it doesn't know stuff is in the fog of war, but in this case, as I said it was just blatant "cheating".

Wiz. It would be amazing if, for example, capital provinces showed up in the fabricate claims window but were greyed out if not isolated and had a tool-tip explaining why it was greyed out.

I once had an offensive war going bad, so I went looking for allies, nobody wanted to ally me, but then somehow Poland wanted to ally me. The strange thing is that, England and Spain for example wanted to ally me before the war, but I had max realtions and didn't want to lose diplo points, but Poland didn't want to ally me, so I guess they wanted to ally me because of the war. Maybe because I was fighting a rival of them like some people here said. I don't know why, didn't look into that at that moment, only thing I want to say with this is that it is also as a human player possible to get an alliance during an offensive war. Allthough 99 of the 100 will have the offensive war: -1000 modifier :p

Yes, I have secured alliances during an offensive war (that I declared no less). Mutual rivals seems to be a factor, but the serious hidden rule flaw in EU IV makes understanding the game difficult even for people with 1000's of hours. Strong systems can hold up even if you don't hide their rules. EU IV has big problems with its rules/UI display, and a long history of bugs destroying the credibility of consistently WAD/applied mechanics going on under the hood.

It isn't just the AI attrition that cheated from patch 1.8 until a hotfix in 1.10 (at least), in the past we've had two instances of wrong % displayed by the UI (love those "confirmation bias" assertions in spite of the data too), AI Milan maintaining blockades in Australia after dropping off troops (probably bugged also, ships didn't move after units unloaded), lopsided colonial range, misapplied AE advantages intended for lucky nations only.

The opaque nature of the game makes discerning bug from WAD difficult, and AI cheats vs opaque mechanic vs simple bug frequently unclear. Perhaps time spent writing a forum bot would be better spent making game show what its rules are.

I was very clear in my original post : "AI definitely NOT cheating" - and in subsequent post: "I genuinely don't believe the AI is 'cheating' as such, just that it's constantly doing stuff that appear to be impossible" - but I thought it might get your attention.

There are 14 people who seem to disagree with my assertion that the AI is NOT cheating - perhaps they are as confused as I am.

I was very clear in my original post : "AI definitely NOT cheating" - and in subsequent post: "I genuinely don't believe the AI is 'cheating' as such, just that it's constantly doing stuff that appear to be impossible" - but I thought it might get your attention.

There are 14 people who seem to disagree with my assertion that the AI is NOT cheating - perhaps they are as confused as I am.
Haha, well played. You got wiz on a technicality, bonus points for structure that caused misunderstanding in a way similar to the games ui. Maybe you should write a bot to reply to posts which misinterpret lol.

The games documentation is not completely correct. Evidence is as easy as observing the peace deal screen for dip costs.
