I guess you'll know what this is about. I'm at the point where I know I can't play anymore without re-rolling to previous patches. In all my four campaigns in 1.23 and 1.24, either France, Spain or both put their entire army in the New World as soon as they got colonies. It makes no sense to play such a campaign, because whether they're my friend or foe, any strategy goes out the window in such a situation. I could play England, take maritime, espionage and naval ideas, not once tech up on military and still get 90% warscore against France in 1550, because there's just no troops there. Yet, the patch notes for 1.24 speak of AI improvements - what improvements? If you successfully teach your child to ride a bike, but this causes him to forget how to read, write and use the toilet, your child has not made any improvements.

This is annoying, I think it's something to do with Navy power, if their navy is wrecked, they leave the troops there and get carpet sieged, instead of just disbanding and re-recruiting, something that they should do if they lose their navy, and probably as soon as their navy dies, not wait to be attacked.

It's not just that. My latest campaign was with England, I was allied to Spain and thus I could see their troops. All of them were in South America and in one place where they had two colonies interrupted by a native South-american nation, 30k were continuously using their transports to get from one colony to another. When I reloaded, they stopped, only to start again after a year or so. When I declared war on France and called Spain in, I saw that all French troops were also located in South America. It was me and Spain vs France and I was the only one to even have troops in Europe. I think it's not an exaggeration to call this game-breaking.

Edit: I also want to say that I'm not unaware of how difficult it must be to code a proper AI, especially for a game as complex as EU4 that is on 1.24, with so many changes being made. But how difficult can it be to tell the AI to always take native coexistence and never, under any circumstances, send troops to the New World? This would slow down their progress in America, but it'd be miles better than right now.

I noticed this in a game today.

I was playing a Holland game allied to France. I got a little greedy and had a coalition form against me. When the inevitable war came I noted that my allies armies were all in South America. It was a war I could not win with just my army.

This is a known issue and replied by PDX as being a difficult issue to solve (Chaingun). Dont know why its difficult but it is a known bug. Its already more than a year old, it seems to have worsened though, latest patches. AI always takes the native coexistence policy so thats not the issue. Just to inform you :)

Thank you, I did look at some older threads before I posted this to make sure I wasn't just repeating what was being said daily anyway, but it was just from pre-1.24. I know it's a known issue, but what I wonder is why it's not the issue taking absolute priority. My sample size of this happening was four of four in 1.23/1.24 and for everyone having the same issue there's only two options:
1. Play MP with at least five other people, making all major colonizers player-controlled.
2. Play SP somewhere where no colonizer exists, which is pretty limiting to say the least.
I wonder how many players do either of those things?

If you played England you can stop all access to North and South America pretty easily. It's the easiest country to do it with, France being second. I have done it with Spain a few times.

However, in doing so you will have to pretty much destroy the other colonizers, so it's a bit of a zero sum game, you still won't get the support of opposition you may want. You can totally leave the Commonwealth, Russia and the Ottos alone, that will provide opposition later in the game.
