Hi,

When I originally downloaded 1.4.1 Kennedy on my vanilla Stellaris, using the "random" selection for galaxy settings worked perfectly. I could explore to my heart's content for at least 20-40 years before bumping into anyone. It was great and I truly had a lot of fun without clustered empires next door to me getting in the way. It even took me a while before I discovered "life out there" which to me made that early exploration phase just that bit more tad enjoyable.

Well, I decided to get Leviathians story pack and oh boy, everything changed for the worse when it comes to the early exploration phase I am afraid to say. The first being is that AI empires on random are clustering up not too far from my own starting zone. They seem a few stars more distant then in the original clustering of empires when vanilla was first released but still, they are pretty close by. That nice deep exploration I enjoyed previously has all but gone, with me encountering another alien species within 5 years.

Then there is more creatures flying around which puts a bummer on waiting more patiently to discover alien life. It just seems all the improvements made with patch 1.4.1 has all but disappeared with the DLC.

I wanted to ask but has anyone else noticed the reverted changes the DLC has caused? Will Paradox hopefully patch all this up again with the release of 1.5 Banks? At the moment, I am having to shelve Stellaris for a bit as the nice changes brought has just been undone by the story pack and does limit my own enjoyment.

Thanks.

That DLC does not alter how AI empires are placed or density of space monsters.

In fact, purchase of DLC never reverts changes in later patches. There are no separate "patches" for base game and DLCs. Not having DLC just means DLC-only features are disabled.

Well thanks for the information regarding this. Still if this is the case, why has the game started to go screwy? Anyway I can fix it so I can get it back to where it was.

Anecdotally i feel it might have changed space monster density to being less in general because there are only so many kind of actors they can put in each system, and they don't place them together afaik. So you're going to see less repeated, or none at all anywhere near you. I don't even know when the last time i saw a crystalline entity or cloud was, and i've played at least a dozen games post dlc.

There have been some games where i'm not even sure if i have the dlc, when my empire stretches over 1/2 of the galaxy and i still haven't seen any dlc content.

Space monsters were spreaded across the galaxy in 1.2, and became clustered since 1.3. That change was in base game.

I usually play with clusters off, and it still completely random. Sometimes I have a large area for myself, and sometimes I am squeezed smack dab in a group of A.I.

The non-clustered is not a "isolationist" setting. It just remove the guarantee of beeing in a cluster.

Well I would say around 7 games so far.

I usually play with clusters off, and it still completely random. Sometimes I have a large area for myself, and sometimes I am squeezed smack dab in a group of A.I.

The non-clustered is not a "isolationist" setting. It just remove the guarantee of beeing in a cluster.

Well when I used to play vanilla, it was pretty much guaranteed I would have a large space to myself. That seems to have disappeared since then. I guess all I can do is play more games and report back since it seems that nothing has supposedly changed.
