OK, lets take a step back

Look at the big picture. Think of balance.
The Japan ai needs to be fixed. Now, think of the game.
China is a reactive ai.

If we fix Japan to do what it's suppose to do then the outcome of China will be completely different.

For example:

The Japan peace ai which is basically building an offense for land against china.

Then we may have a Japan sea ai # 1 which may attack the Dutch East Indies.

Then a Japan sea ai # 2 which concentrates on Pearl Harbor

Then Japan sea ai # 3 which concentrates on the British Empire in the East, the Philippines, New Zealand and Australia

Each one of these ai's will change the allocation of IC's and research. Each ai will reduce the commitment to Mainland China where finally it is a low priority and it tries to concentrate on defending key points on the mainland.

When this is done all your work on the China ai may make it way too powerful.

Just keep this in mind Spoonist. You may want to wait until the Japan ai is fixed. Of course we all appreciate your work and I for one would be willing to put your changes in a Mod until Japan gets fixed.

What do you think?

china.ai used to be a pushover for Japan, making it too strong in the region.

Unforunately, I made it a tad too strong, but that is mostly fixed now.

I think that the game still favors the Axis in a handsoff game so for balance purposes a stronger china is good for the game.

Fair points, but with the ban on new events how will this get into HoI? Piggy-back on existing events without an update to the desc text is a bit dodgy IMHO. The points I'm making are from the AI Project perspective of using the existing structure to build the best AI.

My apologies! I re-read the stickies with just a tad more care and do now note the event ban. I can also appreciate why it was put in place. SORRY! With this great flash of insight, all of your comments are appropriate and correct.

So, may i humbly suggest:

1. the current vein of this threads AI is to make it turn out historical with regard to Japan. This being the goal, and with no new events allowed, nothing else is reasonable. I would echo Glenn [i think his suggestions above] that B4 this AI is completed, the Japan AI needs to be finalized first.

2. I would extrapolate that supposition and say that in general, the major AI's need to be completed first, then the 2nd tier and finally the minors.

3. Maybe my Burma ideas could get incorporated into CORE?

Thanks.

In my recent USA tests I've included my version of china.ai, and it does marvellously against the japan.ai

Japan will gain terrain, be stalemated and then pushed back, then Japan launches a new invasion offensive, will gain terrain, then be pushed back etc.
Its not until Japan goes on the offensive that the fronts stalemate for real.

This looks good so far.

After my attempts with US & Dday are either successful or failures I will check out how to improve Japan.

Right now it has too few invasion targets.
Especially after it joins the axis vs the allies.

Talking about 1.05c China.ai here:

the china ai garrisons too much troops at the border to Sinkiang.
In all my handsoff games there were some 15 to 20 divs at this border. That's far too much and makes conquering china for Japan a walkover.

Maybe the priorities for SIK should be changed to - 1.
I can't under stand why China should garrison the border to Sinkiang anyway!

country_priorities = {
JAP = 150
replace SIK = 50 with SIK = -1
CHC = 50
SOV = 50
ENG = -1
MON = 25
FRA = -1
TRK = -1
TIB = -1
NEP = -1

Otherwise China is doomed IMO.
