How many times I saw that AI crash rebel army in 1:5 ratio, like 2k army crush easily 10k rebel army (especially in Europe). I always lost from rebels, even I have twice larger army (example, I sent 20k on 10k rebels and lost always at least 8k). I must sent 3:1 to defet them. Is AI cheats or something else?

the ai cheats in a lot of things, more so with every patch. but i do not believe the problem here is cheating but the time when you engage the rebels after rebellion. They start with minimum morale, if you engage them early enough you can rout them with minimum force, but once they get organised they can break your teeth.

You also may be forgetting about basic fighting tactics, like:
- Cavalry is efficient only in plains,
- Defender gets bonus while standing in mountain province (it is best to attack them with infantry backed with artillery),
- When fighting always have army maintenance slider set to max (well, there are some exceptions but assuming you play European Christian/Muslim country just max it out).

Just before attacking rebelous province, split your army in two in like 1:4 ratio. First send the smaller and after few-seconds-long break (even before the first army reaches the rebels) send the second one. It is called reinforcement-morale-bonus - your morale boosts if you get reinforcements thus it is easier to kill the rebels.

which are the exceptions? i usually fight rebels the month they spawn so i dont have to max the maintenance slider.

Fnuco,
Don't remember the details, but ws2_32 was fighting his Xhosa battles with his maintenance slider set to 50% or 75%. Being a Pagan, white-penalized, tiny African nation gives you so small moral bonus and the differences between 50% morale and 100% morale were so insignificant that he found it much more reasonable to save the money rather than spend them on maintenance.

oh, right, i remeber him saying that he fought at 50% in his Xhosa AAR. i think he used it more in the beginning where he used more cavalry for the shock phase.

thanks, i thought there was something related to maximum morale or something.

Rebels in AI countries appear not to get any better tech, unlike those you face, who can magically conjure cannons from nowhere. I've noticed the AI loses quite often to rebels early in the game, but then later can defeat 30,000 of them with 1500 infantry. It's as if AI rebels are natives.

Which is a serious problem if you like games when courties disentegrate and the like. At least in the later stages of the game.

Rather cavalry is uber on plains.
There is no penalty for cavalry fighting on other grounds, they just dont have their "plains bonus". :)

highly inefficient?

try this, 1475, Austria, 5000 infantry are dig in Steinmark, attack them with 5000 infantry. Then try with 5000 cavalry. That 400 shock value will do wonder. Even if its cavalry attacking in mountain. :)

till there is a significant fire phase, cavalry rule the battle, anywhere.

Maybe DSyoung or Tom could show up, and explain in greater/better details, or you could look up the FAQ battle system ;)

Or just ask Henry after i caught him in Poitou, he had 10inf 5cav army, and his leader skill, my 20k cavalry attack him...Well to think about it, you cant ask Henry, he is dead :D
