AI and joining alliances

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, haven't found it...

Anyway, the question is that, let's say you play Venetia. If you set your messages to see it, you'll probably see Knights of Rhodes joining Byzantine Empire alliance, even if at war. Now, start as Byzantine Empire, and there is no way you can get the Knights into your alliance. Is this AI cheating?

One more question: has anyone ever experienced a nation asking to join an alliance you own?

maybe is because this Byzantine Alliance has already 5 members.... as a human you can't have more than 4 allies.... but the AI can... talk about AI cheating eh?

well, as I can recall... nope.... noone has ever ask me to join my alliance....

I play as Russia (age of mercatilism campaign) and Denmark want to have allince with me (and I accept). But for few years they involved me in war against Sweden, Holstein and Maclenburg. I think they need strong ally because Sweden is stronger then their.

I remember another one: in my Napoleon ambitin campaign I played as Prussia and our great allince (Spain, Russia, England, Austria and Prussia) was broken 1807. Austria made new alliance with German small states and Russia asked me to make alliance but they want I declere war against Courland (I did that and England joined, too). :rofl:

I've been asked to join alliances many times, which is what I think DukeofSerbia is referring to, but no one has ever asked to join me, to my recollection.

I agree with the others that, No, no AI country has ever asked to be included in my alliance. Yes, they have asked me to join their current alliance. And No, no AI country has ever asked me to form a new alliance.

well... this... I have seen it... sometimes when I'm not in an alliance, an AI country without allies also, ask me to form a new alliance.... so, I mean, this is possible..... but it seems to me, that the other way (AI asking to join your alliance) is harder, perhaps it checks your allies, and see that it doesn't want to be friends with them....

Just like everyone else here I cannot remember ever having an AI nation ask to join my existing alliance. It seems quite possible to me that the AI only knows how to ask other nations, even other AI nations, to join their alliance. It doesn't know how to ask to join other nation's alliances, whether they are run by humans or are also AI.
