AI Japan just landed an amphibious invasion of Wake Island where half my fleet was based and set on strike mission. No Japanese navy escort, just troop transports sailing though my green naval supremacy while my fleet sat in port. I guess the AI’s space marines really are from out of this world!

i never seen that, but take care, if a big fleet pass trough to redeploy to main island, they get a second of green, and go pass.its a secondary problemof the naval supremacy, bah the way naval invasion handeling naval invasions, it should hold green for 24-48 hours until let you left port

you tend to get naval supremacy right when the war starts, and when fleets momentarily pass through or even are assigned to a region. it's not unique to the AI as far as i know/in any instance i've seen, and this is a pretty commonly reported issue

Even if the AI momentarily got naval supremacy (which I doubt because the AI was also invading the Philippines with naval supremacy where it was battling the other half of my fleet), why would my Wake island based fleet ignore an amphibious invasion of the port that it is docked in? They can’t spot the troop transports from the beach? This bug completely kills realism and any value to having a strong navy vs spamming port garrisons.

This isn't a bug, but a quirk of the Strike Force mission

They won't engage convoys unless something else attacks them first. IIRC, only ships on convoy raiding can attack convoys

It's an issue to be sure. You also can't micro the fleet onto them even when you know the sea zone.

Unfortunately, it's a feature, not a bug

i started a usa game after NSB was released and got fed up playing after noticing all sorts of weird immersion breaking stuff like japan endlessly sending troop transports to pearl harbour even though i had a fleet on patrol on that sea province. Also seen italy invade ireland.

I've read that the AI doesnt play by the same naval superiority rules as the player which results in these weird invasions that would never have been possible in the real war.

Has the latest updates improved on this any?

You need convoy raid, not strike force, to kill troop convoys.

If you have a big fleet in the region that's being invaded and you don't expect an enemy fleet to fight you, it's a good idea to split your fleet in four or eight (you can do that with the hotkey "d", irc), that way you can "catch" a lot more convoys.

Yeah, Strike Force means "stay in port until there's a fight to get involved in" - that won't prevent enemy naval invasions. Gotta have patrol or convoy raid fleets for that.

Feature/bug I don’t care about the name you give it. It’s an exploit which shouldn’t be there. Many people use it for example to invade the uk as germany. Small navy and Germany just need a second of green in the canal between be/nl/fr and uk to move there troops.
So I agree there should be some kind of waiting time before the invasion starts.

for what have happen to you… well you got your answer. Wrong setting on your ships… that mistake you will not make again

So you could just order your fleet to the zone and have them fight
Put your fleet in the sea province next to the land, and you should get the naval bombardment bonus to the combat.

This seems to be the same amount of effort as changing the strike force to Patrol or Convoy Raid. I think the OP wants an automatic way for TFs on Strike Force to respond -- perhaps just by including invasions as something to which a Strike Force responds.

SFs ignore convoys, because players were annoyed when their SFs were lured out and kept busy by random trade or supplies in a sea zone. Might take a bit of code to distinguish a troop convoy with invasion orders from a troop convoy with transport orders. Or perhaps it'd be acceptable to have SFs intercept any detected troop convoys. Still, either re-introduces the problem of luring the main fleet into enemy NAV and burning lots of extra fuel.

I'd think Patrols should also get a bonus to locate an invasion fleet. After all, you don't have to scour the whole sea zone searching for them, Battle-of-Midway-style, when you can see them from shore. They're already detected and localized.

Or in the other Midway style: When your intel and codebreaking is good enough to know where they are without spotting

Yes, troop convoys should be automatically spotted when they start landing on the beach, and it would be nice if engaging an amphibious landing got the highest priority for naval orders. If the AI respected my green naval supremacy this would be less of a problem.

It does. You just have to manually move ship without assign a zone.
