Farming and production of food played important part in world war two.Food is essential necessity for humans to survive.
Present sistem of agriculture tech is deficient-i think-one of the hardest thing to improve for nation in those times was agriculture-but in game for example china can go from medival level to agrichemistry in no time.Agriculture should be very hard to resarch to present expenses of implementatin of mechanisation or agrichemistry on wider scale.
Also for reward i think every tech should give +2,3% of supplies(it was important part of supplies essentiall as ammunition) beside increased manpower.
What are your opinions?

You're right. Areas that have very little IC should still produce supplies assuming they were densely populated and farmed, like parts of Ukraine for example, for food is as you said very important part of supplies. If a division begins to lose strength when out of supply, it can't only mean they don't have ammunition!

I think you failed to understand my point if i understand you.I am not for solution that province which produced much food should be granted ic (ic is already abstracted)because that doesnt fit in game model.I am talking about agriculture techs and effects
1. tech level modern-some nations in game doesnt had this-china for example-there are difficulties of transition to modern-educating peasnts to some more advanced ways of farming but not so hard to transit-i think; although it should take long time.
2.tech level -mechabised-tractors,machines- hard to transit from modern agriculture and should reuire large investments of ic-although this is not applicable in current game model.Anyway tech should be hard to resarch to presented difficulties of implementation which could substitute ic investment.
...some of further steps are still not used by all countries even mechanised agriculture is not common in all 3rd world.

And for giving additional suppliees production efficiency i think its fair.In my country as i remember one man working in field could feed 1,7 man while on west same ordinary fellow working in field could feed 5 more men-and those men now idle could built rifles, work as counstuction workers or in factories. You get idea.

Perhaps the game should differentiate between development and research? For example; I have no doubt that the Soviet Union at the time was fully capable of doing the necessary research, but most of the Soviet agriculture was in dire need of mechanization.

I know (and iwould be for this solutoin)but current game mechanics doesnt allow this-so i was for solution that occupy one tech slot for long time to represent heavy investements for improving agriculture.

Actually, no, not really. Food and drink only accounted for ~10% of the supplies shipped in either WW1 or WW2 - the main elements were ammunition, spare parts and POL (petrol, oil and lubricants). Food can be obtained locally just about anywhere that there are people living - the deserts of North Africa were about the only place this was an issue in WW2.

As to the original point of LORD NIL that Agri-tech should need more to implement than just research, I agree but can't think of any elegant way to do it (sorry).

Indeed Balesir.

Also remember that the agricultural (industrial) revolution, was something that took many decades and was very much a peace issue. This game is about war only and spanns no more than about 8-10 years of events. Not enough time do any drastic changes to your industry or agriculture, even less so while beeing at war.

I think the techs in the industry tree represent only minor efforts and should be taken lightly since we all know china didn't use tractors and all countries were at very different places in how modern their agriculture was. But this should already be reflected in their inherit manpower values at start and thus already discounted for.

Sure china should have even more manpower potential... But not in the realm of being accessable within a few years of wartime research.

I agree that its to easy to improve the "techs" but if you don't read as much into them and try to imagine more realistic names for them I think the agriculture techs are otherwise fine. Perhaps more general names like "advanced agriculture" should have been chosen since its much more general and whats very advanced in China is likely 50 years old in USA :)

I just propose increased difficulies for components-i set them to nine-maybe 10 would be better. This make agriculture hard to research with low tech teams, but increased supplies makes it worth persuing even if you are not interested in manpower increase.Simply this will prevent third world countries from having good agriculture if they are not ready to give much to this goal.Agriculture is not sporadic tech-it was heavy investment of time and resources so it should be hard to research.
For low tech countries i have advice -do not deal with agriculture if you are not ready to sacrifice reserach slot and budget for long time.
