After some time I started a new game with AOD 1.05 - IC 1.1b3. I started the game on normal difficulty with aggressive AI.
The year is 1935 and everything seemed to be normal until now. But on February 1. Greece started a war against Italy. Since all wars up until now were triggered by some kind of event I wasn't sure if this was intended, so I loaded a savegame from January 1. 1935. A few days later on January 28. Italy declared war on Yugoslavia again without any event. Is this wad, because I never witnessed this behavior in previous versions?

I think you may be seeing the effects of limited AI technology.

In my time playing the HoI games of one ilk or another over the last 6+ years, I have seen numerous instances where things like this happen for no apparent reason at all.

I think it is exacerbated in IC, however, due to added events not present in AoD or HoI that affect the Balkan nations' relations with each other, thereby making them more likely to DoW on each other. This is also true of Italy and a few countries in South America and the Middle East. It is simply the addition of new events in IC that create an environment for the greater likelihood of AI aggression when the setting is high.

this reminds me of the time that the UK declared war on the spanish state, which triggered a war declaration by germany and italy. this caused the polish to be attacked by the SOV, because they were probably like meh lets join in for the hell of it. germany had 9 mere divisions total while the french had 20 divs ravaging germany, until -for the love of god this is real i swear- THE EFFING POLISH CAME TO RESCUE GERMANY! apparently the soviet DOW of the poles made the germans and poles start an alliance, and the polish army came to rescue germany after half the polish army pushed back any russian attempts to capture polish territory. the result was that germany destroyed the french divisions on german soil, pushed through the undefended marginot line, captured all of france, and apparently for the hell of it, captured and annexed both the spanish republic and state.

i was incredibly amused as i was playing the japanese at the time.

Gotta love it! I mean, straying from the historical can be fun, but moving well into the realm of the utterly ridiculous and incredulous is something else entirely. No way that would have EVER happened in real life 1930s.

I would think aggressive AI would mean during battles the AI would be more Aggressive. Not more aggressive in Diplomacy and starting wars that put the world ablaze...maybe there should be more settings...like a scale for historical DOWs to A-Historical wars and alliances (Blood Bath)...and a seperate one for aggressiveness of the military AI. I like to be close to historical war..but want the AI to use its all when trying to defeat its enemy during a war.
