I'm currently playing as Alwyn II, King of Wales.
My Father Alwyn I of Wales married my Mother, Empress of Byzantine Empire. I am their first born son (neither had children, or even marriages, before).

Both Kingdoms have Agnatic-Cognatic Premo as the succession law. I am now King of Wales after my father's death, my mother remains Empress of Byzantine.

For my whole life I've been Heir to Byzantine Empire. I've just looked to see how old my mother is (she's 69!) and I noticed that her heir has suddenly changed!

Her heir is now my nephew: My younger sister's son (with her German husband who has no ties to either Wales nor Byzantine).

I was shocked! I checked their succession laws but it's still Ag-Con Premo, surely as eldest son I should still be the heir!?
This was after I installed Legacy of Rome, could that have effected it? Though I don't remember if I'd checked before after the instillation.

Any ideas?

Many thanks :D

Neither of us are. My Mother was though.

I must make a correction: It's not my nephew but my great-nephew. (my sister's grandson. My nephews wife also has no ties to wales nor Byzantine.)

Neither me, nor my sister, her husband, my nephew, his wife nor my great-nephew are born in the purple...

Succession really can be screwed up. Once I had two kingdoms with the same succession laws and same crown authority (it was low), and they had two different heirs.

But it won't since the Byzantine Empire is a level higher than Wales, even if he starts as the king of Wales, Wales will fuse into the ERE, not the other way around.

Indeed. I've looked through every possible avenue I can find, every family member and their traits, and as far as I can see there's no reason they're heir rather than me. It's quite frustrating.

I've played on for a bit (keeping a save from this point in case I find a fix) and she died leaving it to this 'pretender' (in all but name!). I've managed to get a matrilineal betrothal to my daughter lol. (far enough removed not to be too disgustingly incestial :p )
