We know you've been looking forward to learn more about modding. After seeing all the amazing things that were already created or concepted during the lead up to release, it's finally time to get your hands dirty. Below you'll find a handy guide that will help you create your Own Tomes, Add your own Models or Tweak the game to make the Map as big as you want.
Good luck and Have Fun!

Hello, where can I find the .po file for all the lines of the game?

I want to try to do translations into my native language
If you want to translate everything, then yeah, having the EN files as an example would be necessary. Go to your game's folder (you can use steam to go to it quickly). Once you are on the AoW4 folder, you should find a EN.MO file under Language/EN.

Keep in mind that MO are not editable, so you'd need to decompile it (not sure how OK are the devs with this) into a PO so as to make changes with a program like Poedit.

Thank you very much for the modding guide! It will be an invaluable resource for modders! It would be amazing to make available a PO file of the EN.MO for users such as Reiko171. I could do it myself, but i'm not sure it's ok.

Reposting from a thread I created:

Hey all.

Im working on a trial tome using the modding guide. So far Ive gotten to step 9i, and when I try to check the mod in game, its not showing up.

Any ideas as to the likely culprits?

EDIT: Figured it out

The tome was not showing up because the .rpk file was in the main AoW directory and not in the pack folder of the mod itself. Once I copied it over it showed up normally

Thank you for making this documentation available! It's extremely helpful.

I'm having a similar issue to Purgatus, and their workaround (copying an rpk file into your mod directy from the main AoW directory) seems to work. However, this seems unintuitive and unintended? Ex. the resource editor has a "save as" functionality that allows me to save edited rpk files into my mod directory, yet the file isn't visible in the target directory after saving. Likewise, the documentation itself says that changes should be automatically picked up by the mod upon saving:

In short: I'm not clear if copying over rpk files from the main directory is intended for the modding process, or if I'm misunderstanding how the resource editor is supposed to work.

Good afternoon. I ran into a problem creating a map in the Map Editor for Age of Wonders 4. I launch the map editor from the folder with the game LevelEd.exe. After starting, when I click on New Map, I am offered to make a minimap for a map that has not yet been created. How to create your own map through the Level Editor from the game folder? In other parts, I did not have such difficulties. Launched clicked on New Map and created a landscape. I meant that I have a problem at this step. I click OK, usually a new empty terrain field is created and I can create units and buildings on it. And after clicking OK, the Tactical Map Editor opens for me. I want to create a map without a minimap. In Age of Wonders, Planetfall has a similar editor but when creating a map. The same window appears. but it has 2 tabs Tactical map and Strategic map. I want to create a strategy map with my own history.
