Im a bit concerned regarding this point. I know its a video game and looking at some Netflix productions dealing with minors it might be hypocritical. Still Im worried that the game might be banned in Germany because of this. I therefore propose that nudity be restricted to characters 18+.

Yeah, I doubt Paradox wants to risk the controversy of having nude people who are under age. Not to mention the legal issues.

Trust me, the game is not going to be banned in Germany. That's a big market for Paradox so I'm sure their legal team has looked into whether what they do complies with the law.

Considering the lengths Paradox went through with HOI4 to make a German law compliant version of the game, I completely agree.

Remember that genitals are going to be obscured, regardless of age, so it removes some of the problems.

The characters are also not being shown in "sexual situations", or in a fashion intended to titilate or arouse anyone, so that removes some problems as well.

I’m pretty sure in the US it’s explicitly illegal for pornographic material to insinuate that characters are minors, which is why a lot of Japanese games get changed for US localization, but that might just be for cultural reasons.

Depends where you are.

Some countries have verbiage like "an image or pseudo-image" of a child, and have held that a drawing of a child counts as an "image or pseudo-image" of a child.
Others only apply bans to *actual* images of a child.

Better: they must censor the version to be released for the oppresed people in countries with Sharia law, the game must remain uncensored in the free world.

Considering that some of the more prominent countries in "the free world" have serious laws about nude depictions of children/'teens, an "uncensored" version is unlikely.

They've already made the concession of having fig leaves obscuring genitals, so that's already censored.
It wouldn't take much for children to always be wearing a light robe of some sort - in a similar vein to a solution for how to have an option to not have nudity in the game whilst retaining the "nude" tenets.

I'm glad somebody finally brought this up! It's good to know that someone has the back of Paradox's legal department, and the back of any outside counsel they may have purchased legal advice from, so they don't miss blatant criminal law violations they may otherwise have overlooked.

Jokes aside, there is no reason to worry. I'm sure they're on top of this.
