I don't *think* so, though I can't say for certain.

I only wanted to point out (in response to those who were saying it looked like the decision had already been made) that the opinion expresed by Garbon and yourself was not necessarly shared by all of the High Council.
And I never said nothing was impossible for EU3, at least for database and map. But only this is not sufficient to me.

As for your comment about an event plausible between 1500 and 1550, yes - within our timeline. But when you really get down to it, the event was not plausible because the calendar said "1500" or "1550" - it was plausible because of social or political considerations at the time.
That's what I meant with " and/or another ruler" (ala random EU3). ;)

My main point is we know what happened for a country at a certain date and under situation at this time. Problem is explanation is not always obvious: why did it happened here and not elsewhere? This is not only a matter of social or political situation but also right time and right people. Saying it could happen anywhere only because of "significant" parameters but not all involved in History is ideologically dangerous and could be very deterministic.

My answer is: I don't know, maybe it could have happened or it is plausible but I'm not really sure. So many factors are involved...

I felt the same way. I once played russia where I regretted conquering territories because I realised there was an event that came later that would have given them all to me as cores. I didn't like feeling like I had to memorise a list of events in order to play the game well.
Who said EU2 engine was perfect?

Anyway, where is the straight jacket here? You were free to conquer these lands before historical time. The cost was only higher. You were not forced to follow historical path, were you?

For a player role-playing this country, things will be different, with historical flavour. Some people like silentius, if I understand his words, like this way. Is it possible to feel the same atmosphere in EU3?
No, experience is different. I don't say it is better or not, only different.

I'm afraid I think the same and I don't really enjoy it.

First, I never said you claimed anything with regard to AGCEEP III's status. I said some people thought the AGC had made a decision, and I wanted to point out that not all members of the AGC shared the opinion you and Garbon had already expressed.

Second, my stance right now is that things like rulers (where events triggers are concerned) could be approximated via a combination of :

-National ideas
-Sliders settings
-Monarch Stats
-Some randomness (Just because an event COULD happen doesn't mean it will).

As well as certain country flags. (F.E. a "Monarch_Insane" flag that would result from a random event)

I can certainly see why not everyone might feel this stance is sufficient for what they'd like, though.

True and true but for second point, sufficient "only", because this is debatable and political ideologies or points of view can be involved. For me, even with randomness, it is still deterministic because conditions will be set in stone: inside, it could happen. Outside, it will never happen.
Now, as a player, what will I do? Read all events, try to not fullfill conditions for "nasty" events and try to fullfill conditions for "good" events? Or will it be a matter of luck?

"For what they'd like" is another question.

@Guillaume HJ: btw, about dates, could you explain then why Protestantism is not possible before 1500 in EU3 and why dates are used for trigger in other events?
Is it coherent?
