I was thinking that maybe the Spanish could grab it since they're the closest. Or the Portuguese since they're liable to discover it first. Either is more likely than the French or English.

Portugal visited it ,then Spain occupied the north 1626-1642, than Netherland in the south 1624-1641,
Netherland drove Spain out of Taiwan.

Does it fit naming convention for other Chinese leaders and monarchs (see monarchs and leaders for CHI and U14)?

Better don't change this name, because people are used to this name.
And the monarch Zheng Cheng Kong( so similar spelt) is him too.

About proposed events for China (Ming or Qing), Da Xi, Da Shun and Manchus, could you post them here step by step with a description (or link to interesting article) for each event? It will more easy to discuss them with historical background. Some are interesting but could be tweaked to match script engine according to desired or unwanted effects.

Of course, no need to say we can't read Chinese ideograms.

About leaders, see here for definitions (and Havard's Bible is the reference for modders).

Ranking new leaders according to existing ones is not a bad idea. Keep in mind balance is important with other countries in the area (at least Manchus).

Imjin War 1592-1598
Wanli (1573-1620)
From the beginning of Zhang Juzhengs reform 1573, Ming began to grow prosper, and had a large amount of reserve treasury. After Zhangs death 1582, his family was banned. The emperor almost never go to the cabinet to discuss problems.
Japan managed to conquere almost whole Korea in 2 months.
1592, japanese Taiko Toyotomi Hideyoshi united the whole Japan, and began to conquer Korea, in oder to conquer China later. The Imjin War began.
The Korean can't fight against the with musket equipped Japanese,it collasped, only some monks are fighting for their freedom in the south.
For a long term friendship between China and Korea, China sent armies to help Korea. After a short peace truce, as the document doesn't satisfy both sides, the war broke out again.
Leaders :
Lee Soon-shin Korean Super admiral
Chinese general Li Rusong
Japanese generals
Konishi Yukinaga
Kuroda Nagamasa
The Japanese can only hold 3 castles at the shore,1598, as the Japanese sovereign Toyotomi Hideyoshi dead, the five mightest daimyous (Warlord) came to a decision to stop the war.

The Tungustan Manchuria decided to grasp the power again and build the dynasty, in todays northeast China.
The leader of this horde of Jianzhou (in Manchu) is Nurhachi, 1618 he declared the campagne against China for the Seven Hates, a fierce enemy of China entered the histrical stage. He use the signal of his Kingdom Jin.(Gold)

One of the Seven Hates is that Mings general has killed his father and grandfather, the others are just their trouble with their mongolic neighbours. For e,g, one of them is that he wanted to annihilate the Jehol tribe and the Jehols refuged in the Mings land, the Mings generall asked him to let them live.
That's the so-called Mings bias to the Jehol in the Seven Hates.

Sight of the peasants

1628,As the natural disaster causes the hungry in Longxi(Shaanxi, the west one), the people there are starving. The armies

and farmers raise to rebell.
Chongzhen doesn't waste any time, he assigen Generall Hong Chengchou to put out the peasants reveolting , Hong is a very good

generall, and has beated most of the rebels.

Li Zicheng and Zhang Xianzhong shouldn't be generals in EU3, Li was the leader of Da Shun, Zhang was the founder of Da Xi.
Zhang Xianzhong created the Xi Dynasty in southwest China, which as well as Shun would be annihilated by Qing Army.
In the famine, some people were sold as meat.

1633 The 72 cliques of peasants hold a meeting and elected Gao Yingxiang as their leader"King of Rush".They act like rogues

to kill many citizen.
They entered Henan.

1636, generall Sun Chuanting has killed the rebels leader Gao Yingxiang, Li Zicheng, a minority, took over his army and the title"King of Rush", and he was also beated.17 of them escaped, als Manchu was invading and taking citizen away ,to which Ming more attention to pay must, they were able to organise the rebelling again.

But Emperor Chongzhen still raise 3 war taxes , there are:
Liaoxiang( war tax of Liaodong), for the war against Manchu.
Jiaoxiang( war tax of pulling down the rebells)
Lianxiang( local gurads)
Which caused more and more people to join the Rebelling.
Chinas Event Raise the three taxes.

1639 Zhang began again to uprising in Hubei.Li at the same time in Henan.

1641 Zhang took Xiangyang. Li took Luoyang.
cede for events

1643 Chongzhen forced Sun Chuanting to attack in a bad situation,he aws defeated by Zicheng and fall in Tongguan.China has lost her last field army.

1643 Zhang proclaimed in Huhan himself as emperor.Li also in Xiangyang

My suggestion to EU2 mod is that "Xi was a vassal of Shun until the fall of Gao 1636, then they got allianced."
It's then much easier to control than "rebel" and "split".Because we don't know which provinces does the peasants get.
At the end of 1643, Zhang got Hunan, Guangdong, some of Guangxi and Hubei.1644 he entered Sichuan and made war against Da Shun.

1644 Li proclaimed himself as emperor in Peking and then retreat westwards just after that. One year later he was killed by peasants.

1646 The rest of Zhangs army joined southern Ming, under the leader of Sun Kewang and Li Dingguo, they quarrel with each other and Sun joined Manchu.

That's the so-called Chinas bias to the Jehol in the Seven Hates.

In order to have more sklavens, Manchu rushed China and forced many people of Zhili (Hebei) and Shandong to move to Manchuria.

The Manchurian army contains eight banners, they are boarded/plain white/yellow/red/blue.

1619 Battle of Sarhu, Nurhachi defeated 3 of the 4 Chinese armies(100,000).

Mao Wenlong, a very excellent general(manueover 6, movement 4, shock 4, fire 3 rank 6) who leaded the militar against Manchu, had very successfully fighted, Manchu couldn't defeat him.He fought on the side of Korea so that Korea didn't fall to Manchu.
He was later excuted by Yuan Chonghuan as he visited Yuan.
After that, nobody can protect Korea, Korea had no choice but to surrender, otherwise their people should not live.

1621 Manchu took Shengjin(Shenyang).

1625 Manchu move its captial to Shengjin.

1626, As Nurhachi was sieging Ningyuan, he may be shot by a cannon of Yuan Chonghuan and was dead one year later. Some people say it wasn't.
Anyway, his 8th son Abatai rose to the throne.

1634, Abatai defeated the Mongol Empires Khan Ligdan, drave him out of the Mongol, and get the Yuxi( jade signet), an item whose holder will be regarded as the emperor of China.
Having defeated Ligdan, Abatai found the Mongol eight banners.
Now he has only one foe--China.

1636 Abatai forced Korea to cancel any relationship with China.

1642 Hong Chengchou was captured by Manchu after the battle of Songshan. One of Abatais wife has persuaded him to join them.
Emperess Xiaozhuang, wife of Abatai, a humoured lover of Dorgon.
Her original name is called:
Hiyoosungga Ambalinggu Genggiyensu Huwanghu

1643 Successor of Abatai
Daisan, Hooge, Dorgon could be the next Khan of later-Jin as Abatai was dead.Hooge, the first son of Abatai, controled 3 banners. Yellow banners support Hooge, white banners support Dorgon, the whites and the yellows dislike each other since a long time.
To prevent the war, they decided that Dorgon to be the regent.

1644, Fall of Peking

As the army of Li Zicheng are rebelling and marshing eastwards into Peking, the total despaired Chongzhen hanged himself under a tree, with only one eunuch also hanged with him.

He hated his generalls and ministers, he has said before his death that all of them should be killed.

The princes fled to south. They don't work together with each other, but against.
The eunuchs(There are no good eunuch in chinese history even Zhenghe can't be counted as a good one) opened the gates, let the Li enter the city.

As the emperor Chongzhen ask for moneys, they don't give him, even for 400000 Liang Silver from a rich man. But as Li Zicheng let his soldiers plunder Beijing, they take out hundred times more than this number.
Li let Wu Sanguis father write a letter to him to ask for his surrender, Wu, the highst general in front Shanhaiguan against the Manchu, accepted it.
Chen Yuanyuan, the most beautiful girl, the wife of generall Wu Sangui, was seen by Li Zicheng, and he occupied her, at hearing about this news, he changed his mind, he decided to invite Abatai to help him to fight against Li.

So the Qing army marshed through the from Yuan Chonghuan well built fortress, into Beijing.
They defeated Li Zicheng in a decisive battle, Li fled westwards and was killed by farmers.

I'd really prefer if it wasn't China.

1644, as Chongzhen commit his suiside, the ministers escort the prince fled to the south, they are splitted and have built serveral independence kingdoms, they don't work together with each other.
The war lords such as Zuo Liangyu and other don't obey to the princes, and they even make war against each other.
As the Manchurian army advance, they were be defeated easily.
But in Sichuan,(southwest China), Zhang Xianzhongs generall Li Dingguo and Xia Wanchung had lead a successful resist against the Manchu, the war last lang.
There are always conflicts and wars among the south-Ming kingdoms and generalls, it's impossible for them to work together.Li Dingguo retreat in Myanmar, Wu Sangui pursuit him in order to capture the last prince Yongli.Yongli hang himself.

1645, Manchu forced all chinese to have the same hair style of the Manchurian, who dares to resist should be killed.
The citizen in Zhejiang dare to uprise, as they say "Keep either the pigtail or the head"
[Entweder Zopf oder Kopf]
The uprise was cracked down, the cities were washed with blood(the chinese always suffer this pain), they are now almost empty( at that time).

It seems that Ming has a lot of generals, but their serve time were short, so you didn't get many, average 3, and Ming fight at least 2 fronts.
Manchus generals were much better (high movement) and they would be added this Saturday , i think.

1547, Ming hat already the cannons as the westen.
in the war in Korea(against Japan), they had Franki, a cannon of two meters, and mini franki, 90cm lang, one man can carry it.
And mounted franki, 70 cm lang, cavalary can use it.
China became very weak after Manchu took all China. They forbidden Chinese to live and think.

And Koreas naval level should be very high, and land level low.
