Historicaly, Ottomans owns Basrah. A core would be normal especially if you have Al Hasaa as vassal without a land connection.

I agree with granting a core on Basrah. German wiki has a nice map showing Basrah as part of the Ottoman empire.

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Ottoman_empire_1481-1683.jpg

However there already *is* an event granting a core on Basrah:
TUR3360 which is triggered by PER3560A - so TUR has a 95% chance to get the core if Persia/Safavic Empire is existing.

And - oops. How about event 301007 (Conquests of Murad)? It also already grants a core on Bashra...

So I´m against Crash63´s suggestion to grant a core on Basrah with the "Süleiman I" event. Süleiman I has his hands full conquering hungary, Basrah should be a target later.

Yes, we already have two events granting core on Basrah.

TUR_3360 is even before Suleyman (range of TUR_3360: 1512-1522) but under condition of existence of Persia. Anyway, there is almost no chance to not see Persia appearing now, unless player do something in the area.

Next and last chance is in 1574 with TUR_301007 but only if action_c was not chosen in TUR_3360 (or if no Persia between 1512 and 1522).

IMHO, both events handle context correctly. No need to add a core that doesn't take this context into account.

OE is the only major without CoA/flag change but some could be represented.

MKJ posted some flags and first one here (before conquest of Constantinople but I don't find source).

Maybe we could do something . Any thought or better sources?

Btw post #868 was never discussed. better report it in devoted thread.

I always thought the flag was green

as per the COA

the green emblem up top is the COA

note the green and red flags on each side

we need to fix the OE game as it is found wanting, granted some problems are caused by certain alliances that prevent OE wars, eg, HUN joining a BYZ, KNI, SPR alliance.

Can you explain these additions? In many cases, it looks as though you just wanted to give the OE bonuses and spread them about haphazardly. Quality increase in the Absorption of Aydin? 250 gold for inheriting Germiyan? I don't want a weak OE either, but giving benefits willy nilly isn't what we do.

on ephesus

The town knew again a short period of flourishing during the 14th century under these new Seljuk rulers. They added important architectural works such as the İsa Bey Mosque, caravansaries and Turkish bathhouses (hamam).
They were incorporated as vasals into the Ottoman Empire for the first time in 1390. The Central Asian warlord Tamerlane defeated the Ottomans in Anatolia in 1402 and the Ottoman sultan Bayezid I died in captivity. The region was restored to the Anatolian Turkish Beyliks. After a period unrest, the region was again incorporated into the Ottoman Empire by sultan Mehmed II in 1425.
Ephesus was eventually completely abandoned in the 15th century and lost her former glory. Nearby Ayasluğ was renamed Selçuk in 1914.

if you think 250 is too much , what do you suggest for the richest city in the aetolian coast which was ransacked and its wealth relocated to turkish held constantinple?

..........................................................

aydin

the area was greek, it supplied greek, troops of quality, and these good troops remained loyal until the greek independence movement of 1824, which later led to the pre WW1 exchanged of citzens of turkish held macedonia and greek aetolia.

if tests prove an extra quality is too much, then I will revert it back

i never do willy nilly things, it might seem like it, but I test stuff.

I didn't say that you didn't test this stuff but rather that the advantages that you're suggesting for the OE remind me of the types of stuff that IDLF gave to his AI nations for EP.

Germiyan wasn't in a wonderful place come 1429 which is sort of why its last ruler bequeathed it to the Ottomans. (Ephesus isn't the capital of Germiyan/wasn't even in Germiyan) I think 250 is a bit much to give the Ottomans after they just got a free country annexation.

Nothing in the Aydin event suggests that the Ottomans suddenly acquired a bunch of skilled greek troops. For an event that doesn't say anything about armies, it is odd to have an effect of +1 quality.

looking at map, ephesus seems to be in germiyan
would 100 suffice?

i am referring to this arm of the ottoman military

The first Janissary units comprised war captives and slaves, selecting one in five for enrollment in the ranks (Pencik rule). After the 1380s Sultan Mehmet I filled their ranks with the results of taxation in human form called devshirmeh: the Sultan’s men conscripted a number of non-Muslim, usually Christian Balkan boys, taken at birth at first at random, later, by strict selection – to be trained. Initially they favoured Greeks, Armenians, Albanians

the janissary where the elite

Horrible geography doesn't mean that they should get money with that inheritance. As far as I know, Ephesus wasn't involved.

Again, the event makes no reference to favored Greeks in Aydin. Unless you're suggesting that the event text should reflect so (a little strange to me), I'd almost suggest that the quality (if needed) be added in a separate event.

ok, which event apart from these do you want eliminated from post?

One question:

Is there or will there be an event for the ottomans to move the capital out of Konstantinopel, if all surronding provinces are not longer in Ottoman hands, but Ottomans still hold large provinces in East-Anatolia, Egypt or else where?

Further: If the Ottomans loose their turkish prov and their main holdings are the one in Egypt, are there any uprising events or civil war with a reemering mameluk state?
