Exams are hell, with two down and five more to go. Luckily only two are this week, to more next week and oen the week after that so inbetween I'll probably find time to write the next update, which will clear up the things that lead to an Ice storm in hell, i.e. Commie USA and also explains why the States are neutral. The two next week are German and English, bioth Subject where I don't haev to study too hard. ;)

It warms my heart when I hear things like that, it ensures there's one less person who can do my job, making engineers even rarer and forcing up wages! :D

Oh boy.

Well I for my part will need a little math for my expected job, somewhere in networking. I will go to college next year if everything plays out and guess what: The maths I will need was taught as a part of Computer Technologies and not the real math classes.

Hurray.

As for math, algebra's ok, but I hate geometry so much. When will I need to know that corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent?

Oh well, after this year I never have use proofs again hopefully.

Chapter 3

September 5th, 1938

Duxford Comprehensive School

"... and we must therefore conclude that the assasin of President-Elect Hoover indeed acted alone. He was no Nazi Goon and as far as it has been pieced together no member of the CPUSA. We cannot be certain on this though, as our sources within the former United States have all but dried up." The Teacher turned around to look at the class. He bent down and supported his his upper body on the outer edges of hsi desk as he always did before launching into a new lecture. "However, it can be speculated that had the bullet missed, or had the attempt not taken place at all the United States might still be democratic." Turning back to the blackboard he wrote while saying: "Today we will start with a rough timeline of the events that threw America into Communism. Remember boys, this is only a rough outline, but it will still form the base for the next test we will write here." The bell rang, singalling the break. While his stutents stormed out to play yet another one of their endless Football games* on the courtyard in front of the school or go to the top of the school to watch the planes on nearby R.A.F. Duxford he prepared the next hour. Bringing this to the class was important to him as he himself was an emmigrated American, although his speech became more British by the day, but he still remebered his home and wondered if he were to see it again someday. When the students filed back into the room he quickly snapped out of his brooding. When everyone was seated again he stood back up, walked a few brisk paces until he stood amidst the first row of seats and said: "When the Americans entered the Great War they came in just in the nick of time. Our Forces and those of the French would have had a hard time resisting that last desperate Offensive in 1918. They took over a stretch of the Front, relieving the French Divisions there and sold us Guns and Ammunitions at very favourable rates. Despite decending into Isolationism the USA seemed to be on the fast track to become a Superpower that could rival Britains Might both politically and on the seas.** Then, as we all know the Depression hit the World, and the United States of America bore the brunt. In 1930 their GDP had fallen to about half of what it was in 1928, in the span of less than two years. However Hoover managed to slow the decline, yes even raise the GDP a bit again, so when he and Franklin D. Roosevelt both ran for President in 1932 it was a more than close thing. But in the end Hoover won. However this victory was overshadowed by two things that would essentially prove fatal to American Democracy: firstly, the Population quickly got wind of possible ballot rigging in Minnesota and West Virginia. Secondly...” he paused when a boy raised his hand. “Yes, Willard?” he said. Willard stood up. “What happened to Mr Roosevelt?” “We will get to that.” he took a deep breath and continued. “Secondly, aside from the turmoil the supposed Ballot Rigging caused within the electorate and especially within the working classes who had almost to a man voted for Roosevelt, Hooverpromptly backed out on his election promises. As we have learned yesterday he promised reforms similar to those Roosevelt's program had proposed, and now many of those felt betrayed. However, and listen to this because it is important: The far right, from real Nazis to your ordinary Hillbilly whackjob felt equally annoyed about Hoover, but not that he had backed out on some of his promises, but rather that he hadn't backed out on all of them, or had even made them in the first place. The grumblings grew, and from what both the Police in the States could learn in the short time they had and what the Intelligence Services of this Country have tried to piece together ever since the Revolution, there were many groups who made sometimes genuine and sometimes half-backed threats on Hoovers live, and on that of Roosevelt. Hoover reacted quickly. He hated Roosevelt's guts and used this opportunity to get rid of him, sending him to England as the Ambassador at the court. FDR was reluctant at first, but nevertheless accepted, as the United States became more and more unstable and insecure for anyone that didn't agree with Hoovers liking. FDR left the country on November 3rd 1932, only days before all hell broke loose.” he paused briefly “During the Inaguration of Hoover several days later Security was supposed to be airtight, but nevertheless a disgrunteled Farmer who had lost everything during the depression, including his mind rushed up to the Presidents Motorcade as he was arriving and pumped the President-Elect full of Bullets. The Secret Service killed him instantly. The FBI immediately blamed the Communists and initiated a harsh crackdown all over the country. Almost immediately riots broke out in every major city, especially in the Industrial Belt. As it is in the Anti-Riots Handbook the Army moved in. Heavy fighting broke out in Chicago, Detroit, New York and even in Los Angeles the National Guard traded shots with protesters. This however backfired drastically, because with every exchange of bullets the tension rose even more, and by Feburary 1933 the United States were in a State of Civil War, with Urban Communist and Socialist Militias, along with the ordinary rioters on one side and Army and a few still loyal National Guard Units on the other.” he stopped and asked one of the boys to put up a map he provided. “As you can see here the firecest fighting took place in the cities around the Great Lakes and, surprisingly enough in the outskirts of New York City.” He pointed to the red areas on the map. “It didn't take long though until the single groups tried to form a united Front against an increasingly violent U.S. Army that might be outnumbered but held the advantage in training and equipment, especially the single feared Armoured Division, the 'Old Ironsides'.” He then went on to explain everything, the Battle for Detroit where a Division of the Michigan National Guard had been destroyed between defections and brutal urban Combat, to the Hampton Roads Incidents where the Rebels managed to capture a Destroyer. “By late 1933 most of the Eastern Seaboard, save for the coast of Virginia and the District of Columbia was in Rebel hands. They also controlled many of the Rural Regions, but the Government still controlled most of the Western Seaboard, Florida and most importantly the Capital itself. President Curtis however was prepared to leave the Capital as soon as rebel Militias closed in on DC, and by November 1933, almost a year after the War had begun the Stars and Stripes were pulled down from the Capitol by a raging mob. Curtis tried to evacuate the executive to Denver, Colorado, but was stopped by Rebel Roadblock manned by former members of the Maryland National Guard. The Rebels forced him at Gunpoint to declare to immediate surrender of all Army Units still fighting.” He paused and one of the Boys promplty raised his hand. “Yes, Frank?” The boy stood up and said: “Was that the end of the war? My Father always said it amazed him that the USA collapsed so fast.” “Well, the war might have been officially over, but the power struggle between the Communists and the Democratic Rebels started immediately. Not unlike the one the Soviet Union had post 1917, all that was complicated by the fact that US Forces still held in rural Areas and in the Mountains. The internal dissidents were quickly dealt with, but the fight against the holdout continued, and the last major one that we know of was not eliminated until early 1936. The Country then went into isolationism, and probably has no hostile intentions anywhere, a thought reinforced by the construction of the fence along the Canadian Border, the socalled Iron Curtain. The United Kingdon does have an Embassy in Washington, but other than that...."

I hate that it is sometimes called 'soccer'... football is football!

Anyways, nice update.
But didn't the rich farm owner fight for government?
Or the land owners of south?

They did. They formed the core of the prolonged resistance in the rural areas I mentoined, btu they got eventually crushed as soon as the reds managed to get the arms factories running again.

Hell, I live in the US and I hate the word 'soccer'.
But the Americans have to be unique and call a lot of large men hitting each other 'football'.
