Now there's an idea. Pagan religions in CK2 are blanket representations of very diverse sets of religious beliefs, so it's entirely possible that Christianity in Saskatchewan gets just as distorted and animistic as Christianity did in Appalachia. Plus, there's already a Revelationist horde in the same culture group as the Saskatchewan horde (I believe it's the Black Hills horde, which, as an aside, would make for a killer antagonist group for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign), so a Revelationist horde is not unprecedented.

Just thought I should bring some suggestions for fleshing out the Chrome Cultists I made on reddit some time ago into this thread while the latest release is being worked on in hope of helping. (Slightly edited and expanded from original post so please read again even if you already have.)

At the moment the Chrome Cultists come across as a bit bland and featureless compared to their Rust opposites. Also a bit weak due to the Rust group having a religious head. I have been thinking some changes could be made.

Firstly I assume from the fact they can choose the Tech Scavenger trait in the ruler designer they are meant to be able to scavenge in game, but their religion description doesn't say so like the Rust one does and I couldn't find any option to do so in game even when I didn't have the trait already. I certainly think this should be added even if it wasn't originally intended, it makes sense that they too would want to analyse old tech even if only to see if they could replicate it.

I also think allowing women priests and maybe even enforcing absolute-cognatic inheritance could fit the flavour of them being more inclined to pure logic as seen in their ambitions to remove 'illogical impulses'.

Additionally and along the same lines maybe they could be given meritocracy for the same reason? Since no character or county starts with Chrome Cultist faith it deserves something like that to make playing it worthwhile over the default branch.

They would still be different enough from the rust cultists as those would retain the following features that the Chrome Cult would lack:
- ability to become religious head
- ability for priests to marry
- ability to move fleets along rivers

I think this would be reasonably balanced but I'm no expert. But at the moment playing Chrome doesn't feel like it has any thing particularly attractive feature wise which is a shame given their great description/backstory/concept.

Also since The Riveters while be available to both branches I'd suggest mildly altering their description:
Members of the Riveters devote themselves to a little-known war goddess of the Tech Cultist faiths, known only as "The Riveter". Although their beliefs confuse even their fellow faithful, their effectiveness in battle cannot be questioned.

Also I don't know if this is possible but another idea: a new religious icon if Chrome becomes dominant. Keep Rust's Icon Brown if they are and both icons red when their faith is not dominant but make Chrome's icon more polished and chromey when it is in charge. Like this (but I'm sure one of your team could design it better:

(The following dev diary was written by Vivian, a member of our dev team.)

After the End Dev Diary #38 (Part One!)

Hello everyone! Im back with another dev diary- this one discussing the massive new map expansion we have added to After the End. We've done quite a lot since last time, so much that this dev diary will probably be broken up into several over the next few days. First of all, we are going to look over the massive new map expansion, and the several religions, cultures, and countries that are all coming with it.

Dejure Duchies
Dejure Kingdoms
Dejure Empires
Realms

Four new religions
It wasnt our intent going in to this map expansion to add so many new religions, but it ended up happening naturally as we realized that perhaps new religions were best suited to these areas on the map. To this end- we have made one new religious group, and added a new religion to the Pagan group and a new one to the Pirate group, which has been appropriately renamed.

First up on the list, I am proud to present Trailwalkers.

Map of the Trailwalker Core

Old America's death could not erase her memory and, at the edges of the nation, those who had clung to the fringe of the world endured. Trailwaker is a religion invested in the borderland, the frontier between flesh, soul, and dream. Its followers believe in an omnipresent spiritual plane called the Fearsome, ruled by a pantheon headed by the Buffalo God, Spirit of the West. From the Fearsome flows the Trails, the emanations of destiny that all things must follow to the end. In ancient times, the Buffalo God created the two greatest paths for his people to walk alongside: The Cattle Way and the Maize Way.

Replacing the western revelationists, we have decided to add a whole new religion in its own right. The Trailwalkers are a pagan belief that takes much from the religion we replaced with it, with its own twists. This new religion is Pagan, and reformable- with a to-be-decided reformation belief. Primarily praised in nomadic counties, we're hoping this spices up the region significantly.

Up next, we have ported the Exovedate church from Lahom's renowned Canada Expanded submod and added it to the main mod.

Map of the Exovedate Core

The Exovedate faith is a syncretic mix between Catholicism, Judaism, and First Nations beliefs, based on the teachings of the martyr Louis Riel. Its adherents believe that Riel was a messianic figure and prophet, who helped bring about the Event so that his followers could lead the world into a new era of greatness.

Special Features: Formable secular religious head, raiding, men can have 1 concubine.

Exovedate is a religion we added to form up the faith of much of the Metis lands. This new faith is based on the teachings of a man named Louis Riel, and is a syncretic form of christianity. Speaking of that, this is the first new faith in an entirely new religious group labelled Amero-Syncretic. This new belief will also contain peyotism, alongside a new faith...

In the lands of Alaska, we present Orthodoxy- with a twist.

Map of the Orthodox Core

The religion of the Tlingit is said to have been brought to them long before the Event by bearded strangers from across the sea. Although this faith has Christian origins, it has become heavily distorted due to its isolation from the rest of the Christian world, incorporating native Tlingit practices and idiosyncratic beliefs. Despite all this, however, the Orthodox faith has managed to survive the rise of the Haida in the Northwest, and has even managed to attract many non-Tlingit followers.

Special Features: Defensive Attrition, Homeland Fighting Bonuses

For a long time, it has been the request of the community to add Orthodoxy to the map. We settled on adding it with the inclusion of the Alaskan panhandle and the Tlingit- for the Tlingit have a history with Russian Orthodoxy. This new faith is the last of three in the New Amero-Syncretic group, and will inhabit the furthest Northwest regions of the map.

(NOTE FROM 9KBITS: The Orthodox Jewish religion, previously known as "Orthodox" in-game, is now simply referred to as "Jewish". The Jewish religious group has, in turn, been renamed to "Judaic".)

And lastly, we have one new religion - Pelagic.

Map of the Pelagic Core

Followers of the Pelagic faith roam the seven seas, much like their Brethren cousins. However, that is where their similarities end. Rather than live through piracy and murder, Pelagics instead draw on the natural gifts of the sea. In particular, Pelagics regard whales as the most powerful of all seaborne beings, capable of both giving and taking life at a moment's notice. Pelagics work to gain the favor of the sea goddess, Sedna, creator of the sea and mother of all its creatures, so that she may give them her gifts via her first and greatest child- the whale.

Special Features: Overseas raiding, prepared invasions, concubinage, high attrition, rulers lose prestige at peace, vassals dont mind if levies are raised

Pelagic is a religion that we decided to add to the Pirate group, which we have fondly renamed to Nautical. Mostly in inuit lands, Pelagic takes heavily from Inuit belief alongside revolving around whaling. This religion will have events for massive whale hunts, alongside their cooexistance and reliance on the Ocean. We only felt it was fitting to make this new area have at least a twist on the normal brethren belief- and I must say, looking at what we have done, I am proud of our work.

New Cultures
All areas of the map have a wide array of new cultures. I'll let the maps do the talking.

Eastern Canada
Central Canada
Western Canada and Alaska

We'll be back more with more features on the rest of the changes we have made! Also, expect updates on the new content we add to all these new religions in the coming days!

Hey, how do I run for President as an Americanist?

I'm currently playing a recently converted Americanist, but the thing is there is no one running for president, all holy sites are lost and there hasn't been a president for... 70 years or so, give or take. Is there a way to run for president in these conditions?

On the plus side:
  1. New counties, and I love those.
  2. More native american representation on the map, which is great.
  3. Outright expanded map, which is outstanding.
  4. Two new non-christian religions, which is good.
  5. The Inuits specifically getting attention, which they've always deserved more of.

But there's something that's already driving me nuts, and its purely terminological. The, uh, the new Orthodox religion? The one that's syncretic? And therefor, by definition, unorthodox? Uh...?

This would be bugging me a lot less if it wasn't also forcing the Orthodox Jews to rebrand, and to such an ill-fitting new name! Just labeling them as "Jewish" when Reformed Judaism is around is like renaming the Catholics to "Christian," kind of implying that all of the other Christian branches hanging around are less christian somehow.

Earlier I asked about how to form culture-specific empires. Here's what I was talking about: In my last Rothschild game, when I used a decision to form a custom Empire, it just gave me the Gotham flag with the Imperial Border. Whereas in my current game (same start, but using the Twilight of Empires mod), I set up my family as the Melech of Carolina after a Great Holy War and released them as a Tributary. And when they form a custom Empire, they get to be the freaking Yidishreich!

C4TQBvF.jpg

I'm jealous.

Regarding the update: what are the chances that we'll get any references to the greatest Canadian adventure move: The Final Sacrifice?

We're still trying to come up with a better name for the Tlingit Orthodox. We've been researching it for a while, but we just can't seem to come up with a better name for it than just "Orthodox". The only alternative we can come up with is using the Tlingit name for "Russian", which didn't seem right either.
(For now, consider it highly ironic.)

I have an idea, you can just give the Tlingits a distinctive priest title, then use the title to call the religion.
Like when the priest title is "druid", then we call the religion "druidism".

I'm jealous.

Ah! That's a cultural Empire, something unique to this mod. You don't form them by decision, they're created the same way a regular Titular Empire would be. BUT, you can only create a cultural empire title if you don't already have an imperial title.

How about "Old Believer"? There's a precedent: https://www.theatlantic.com/nationa...mmunity-living-in-21st-century-alaska/275440/

The name also seems to suit the religion's lore.
