What? In about five games that have gone over 100+ years on this mod, the Kingdom of Colorado tends to form more often then not and adsorbs up most of the tribal countries east of it, of which there are many.

I believe he is referring more to the fact that there is nothing unique about the neo-nostic religion, no special mechanics, no events, etc to make playing them different from say the Catholics.

I understand marijuana is often a social drug. Also it would make the trait not a complete wash. +5 opinion is nice, but not worth -1 in all stats. Same trait is what I meant, sorry. Neo-Gnostic characters could just have to make an even with the two options being smoking and not smoking with a -20 prestige hit to switch at will in the decisions menu. -10 opposite trait penalty, +5 same trait.

Also becoming a marijuana dealer would be hilarious and would give Colorado something special to do besides having a shitty religion (though removing negative traits is a nice add-on), bad, tribal holdings, and aggressive Mormon neighbors which it always loses to. Here's another idea: special feast for between March and August if one has the Marijuana Trait to simulate 4/20. This isn't actually as completely ridiculous as it sounds. Some high schools in Boulder actually get 4/20 off, it's a straight up unofficial holiday in Colorado, at least along the Front Range.

Bruh, "role-playing angle"? What is this, a game for nerds? LEGALIZE MARIJUANA 2666
Also, other minor change in Colorado: Weld county (and the Count of Weld) should definitely be Grangelander. Those crazy shits are definitely more like Kansas than they are like Boulder. They actually wanted to secede and form their own state a while back because the (democratic) urban areas kept passing tougher gun laws and such.

I know there's always been a sense of humor about this mod, but this sounds pretty ridiculous and well, unfunny. Colorado has more to it than pot, and I think putting in a bunch of references to it wouldn't be that great.

And if you REALLY want to see marijuana referenced somewhere in the mod, why not have it be in the Caribbean where Rastafarianism is an actual religion?

Rastafarians and other Afro-Syncretic religions already have the option to do a vision quest, and part of the description for their version of it includes: "...you retreat to a secluded location and contemplate [Root.Religion.GetRandomGodName] with the aid of sacramental herbs."

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. But regardless, that sounds pretty tasteful and appropriate. Maybe I should try playing a Caribbean game instead of just trying to save Americanism on the east coast with each different realm.

This is actually a pretty good point. I think Colorado is a lot more diverse culturally than the mod shows.

Hey man, I'm definitely in favor of more than just pot. Neo-Gnosticism is all about oneness with nature and Colorado is full of dope ass national parks. Maybe a character with the Theology focus and who is located in Colorado can pilgrimage to the Great Sand Dunes, Rocky Mountain National Park, Mesa Verde, and Dinosaur National Park. After completing them all, they can journey up Pike's Peak and be awarded a special modifier for piety and +1 learning or something. Well flavored. Could even add vague references to "using the holy leaves" during the journey.

But you're right, as much as I want to legalize marijuana 2666, it should probably just be a low-key thing. Like maybe give Duke Bolder of Boulder a wife named Mary with the dynasty Jane.

Rastafarians and other Afro-Syncretic religions already have the option to do a vision quest, and part of the description for their version of it includes: "...you retreat to a secluded location and contemplate [Root.Religion.GetRandomGodName] with the aid of sacramental herbs."
Vision quests should be added to Neo-Gnostics, imo.

Perhaps the British Invasion could cause a Neo-Americanist religion to form if the Presidency is not owned by anyone for some reason,or an Americanist revival if it is.This could be a way to decrease the stability of the realms in existance at the time.Anabaptists would be a religion exempt from this because of their animosity to Americanism, thelemic(?) for obvious reasons.

What about a wiki to document the lore, religions, invasions, etc?

Just reached the end of a Duchy of Denver game. I'd formed the Empire of Colorado, although nothing was made de jure before the game officially ended. I'll probably go into the files and extend it a few more decades at least. Was pretty fun making Neo-Gnosticism eventually a larger faith than Catholicism, although it wasn't exactly announced when it happened. I just wish that there was more lands to conquer, although I imagine its going to happen eventually.

Out of curosity, how recent is your data?

Because we've been looking at balance for Neo-Gnosticism and such recently, and we've done things such as move a holy site or two closer to them (previously they had the same holy sites as Catholicism, and had NO hope of every holding most of them). Was the data you were using pre or after the Holy Site change?

And any other thoughts you might have on the Neo-Gnostics, I'm all ears.

To be honest, if I hadn't cheated money-wise, I would've been rather screwed early on as the Mormons stormed across all of Utah under the Kingdom of Desert and wiped out the majority of my neighbors. This is Pre-Change, when the closest holy site was literally San Antonio. I do find their religious events lacking completely. There's no real interesting dynamics to speak of beyond a lack of head of state, an inability to reform, and very thin spread of religiously neo-gnostic areas in the start.

At this point, here's a few ideas I have: Expand the Rocklander Culture group northward. What I mean, pretty much, is open up Idaho, western montana, and that area all the way to Edmonton. I'd say that this adds two more culture groups Canadian Rocklanders and Aidans (Equivalent to Appalachians in this case). Could be largely tribal, could just be native instead. Make a lot of it either neo-gnostic or something unique. I think the dynamics across cultures could be interesting and be the creator of some sort of event.

Additionally, given the concentration of Neo-Gnosticism in Colorado, I would say that if it CAN reform, I would go the Syncretic route. What I mean is, a powerful Neo-Gnostic ruler in the west (By which I mean, really, splitting neo-gnosticism into a Protestant and Catholic group, which weakens it further, but really it would be more interesting) Syncretizes with Native American and Mormon traditions to strengthen the faith and give it some sort of head. East might reform different if there's a Neo-Gnostic ruler there (Although by the end of my game, I'd managed to put a Neo-Gnostic on the throne of Mega-Iowa, Columbia (Briefly my bloodline before losing it), Missouri (Formed by a vassal of mine who inherited a lot of Missouri land from Low Crown Authority Iowa), and elsewhere.

If you have any comments on this, I'm happy to listen. This mod is really fun.

hey are there any plans or ideas to weaken catholics a bit? like having a nanissannah (or a new native religion) following in comancheria, or rare events for Native and First Nation cultures to "spiritually return to their roots" as it were.

also, i was looking up idaho and i found an intresting thing about its demographics and pop. density https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idaho#Demographics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_Idaho

idahoan amerodeutch culture anyone? also since boise is where apparently everyone in idaho lives, could it have a 4 to max holding limit as well as a bit more base economic power?

also is e_canada going to be stretched westward any further? or is the going to be something like a e_western_canada?

A family that honors the Lovecraftian pantheon should get strange after a few generations, at the very least. Lovecraftians should have most of the barriers restricting marriage between relatives removed, because when there's a good chance that the family tree claims that something with tentacles sired you're grandfather, a uncle marrying a niece shouldn't be too shocking.
There should be an event for a pregnant unmarried female when pregnant and unmarried to claim the daddy isn't human. And maybe an event to seek that kind of relationship, but that's a rough thing, because it'd be hard not to get too supernatural about things.

It's not really remarkable. The American ethnic category that's usually simplified as "white" has more German heritage than anything else; even English is less common. The political progenitor of a nation doesn't necessarily have to supply all of its populace, after all.

Takes a decision to get monster pregnant, goes into the temple and takes the ritual herbs, the game cuckoos and real fathers from one of the priests, then the child would have a real_father in their info, so no 'the mod has magic' but in their society, they'd all believe in demon baby and it'd get a special trait to mark it's special, superior status with a same-religion relations boost?

not sure about the any unmarried to claim it, I'd say she'd have to legitimately believe it, and there'd have to be no potential babydaddy to raise his hand and put doubts in the minds of the people.

Hate to break it to you Steely, but I have an up to date github version and Neo-Gnostic and Catholic holy sites are still the same.
A few days ago I attempted to move a Neognostic holy site from NYC to Denver on my own build, but I never got it working (apparently heresies must have the same holy sites as the parent religion). We talked among the devs about it, and Celt must have thought that I succeeded when I made a commit with a bunch of other holy site additions.

However, I have now moved a Catholic holy site from NYC to Denver rather than just trying to move the Neognostic site. This strengthens the Neognostics a bit and gives the Catholics another accessible holy site as well, if they manage to stamp out the heresy.

Would it be better to separate the Neo-Gnostics into their own branch with its own heresies?
