Pope Praised-Be demands an update!

I think you should listen to it or he'll excommunicate you and throw you to the cultists.

Praised-Be must be my favorite name for anyone in CK2 and all its mods. simply because of how odd it is

It reminds me of some of the strange religious-phrase names that were sometimes used by Puritans way back when. Like Praise-God, Fear-God, Fight-the-Good-Fight-of-Faith, What-God-Will, Sorry-for-Sin, Jesus-Christ-Came-Into-This-World-to-Save, and my personal favourite If-Jesus-Christ-Had-Not-Died-for-Thee-Thou-Hadst-Been-Damned.

Well there was an MP during the English Revolution named Praise-God Barebone.

Also I think it would be interesting for religious toleration laws, it would make sense with Americas tradition of religious freedom.

i'm not sure if religious intolerance is even possbile to exclude. since it can be mitigated via technology, it stands to reason that you can add the modifier to a religions' effects to counteract the intolerance. but i don't think you can actually exclude intolerance.

I was thinking more of laws that would lower local revolt (good if you occupy a large nonconvertible area), as well as religious based revocation of titles (good if you and your liege don't share religons) it still is the middle ages so I'm sure people will still hate you for being the wrong faith.

So I did some poking around the files and I have found out why there are no diseases in the new world, there is a file in the common folder that gives dates all the diseases can occur.
So what I did was make a version of the file for the mod that changed the possible dates to those in the mods. Despite this I am still not seeing diseases pop up... Any ideas why this is occurring?

yeah, various diseases, even nasty ones like superbugs and influenzas should be a pretty common occurence (much more common than vanilla), and depending on the culture/religion/maybe an old world tech trait there could be ways to try and cure them.

A bit of an odd quirk, if not a bug-- if you reform the Norse or Rust Cultist faiths, and thus become the religious head, you cannot be a banker. The comments in the file suggest this prohibition is intended for the Pope, not the Fylkir or the High Fabricator.

Are there plans for putting Oregon and Washington in the mod?

yes. according to X amount of post X amount of pages back (srsly i have no clue what pages) it has been said that the entire map (meaning north america) will get fleshed out (maybe except northern canada since you know... the infinite populations wastes oil sands of northern canada)

personally i hope washington gets it's own americanist heresy.

We could call it "Cascadianism"!

actually it would be Washingtonianism- as our state flag pretty strongly suggests. americanist heresy made to order.

It seems to me that he Ways of Ceticism are kind of boring. They're just one per stat, and they're blatantly so without adding anything more. Presumably this was due to lack of better ideas, so here's some:

Redwoods/Sequoias were mentioned some time and change ago, as things worthy of veneration. This might be the right place for them. A "way of the redwood" Depending on how you work with it, this is probably best suited to learning, studying the old trees and their ways, but also pursuing the tranquility that the redwoods embody in pursuit of enlightenment.

Norteños and the United Farm Workers are pretty major part of the Californian social landscape, even if Cesar Chavez is past the cutoff date and the group didn't have either organization to solidify around until his time and later. But I think using the old indigenous eagle design and tying it to the culture of once-Mexican agriculturalists would be an excellent foundation for a faction; a way focused on mutual support and protection would be a standard candidate for Stewardship bonus. If you do go with the eagle, which you should because it's very recognizable, that's good fodder for the name too; call them Aguileros.

A somewhat generic "Imperial Creed" way would make sense too, a group which could be criticized as sycophants and ass-kissers, but which in practice believes in the structure of the Empire and the unity of California for greater mutual glory and/or resistance against outside threats (not that there really are any) would be an appropriate diplomacy-boosting way, and would probably help

For Intrigue, the biggest faction in Californian government intrigue right now is the California Teachers Association; a union where membership is mandatory that not even the reps actually like. Nursing and teamster's unions do similar things so a union-inspired way would fit here, although there's plenty of other unions that don't be that way. The political parties were once like this too, though they have less power these days; by all accounts Hiram Johnson did good work there.

For something military-oriented, it's probably best to go gang-based. The problem is that the culture of inner-city violence is fragmentary and dynamic, so it's tough to pin any certain thing down as representative and nuclear in the method that would be useful here. Only thing that comes to mind would be something like "order of the numbers", referencing things like the 14 and 13 for Norteños and scraps, but it's not unique to California; the people and folks use 5 and 6, and the white supremacists roll the 88, and lots of other things.

Something to think about, anyway.

I have only one small problem with this mod (other than a lack of new updates). I try to play as East Tennessee and attempt to convert to the one true religion: Atomacist. (I just so happen to live in the Holy Site there.) However, when I do so, I'm almost immediately attacked by my charismatic and revalationist neighbors (as well as those accursed Snowbirds). I have no friends to help and my troop count is pathetic! It seems to me that playing an atomacist anywhere east of Arizona is impossible!
If there are any tactics anyone could suggest, or some sub-mod that gives me pagan-style troops on conversion, that would be wonderful. My homeland is doomed otherwise!

Hmm, I like the idea of receiving a stack of fanatical event troops upon converting during an Atomicist Revival. I'll think about adding something like that.
