Shouldn't Americanists have Decadence, for being un-American?

Assuming you're referring to my suggestiong about the Rust Cult; sure, that'd be cool, I was just kicking around the ideas because of the whole "Rust" motif (like decay and all that)-perhaps the Rust Cult could be reformed at the start and Consumerism, Americanism and the Rust Cult could all have some form of Decadence (possibly also the Atomicists...but then it might be too many religions with the mechanics)

That would be pretty great, only thing to remember is that I think the standard size per icon in the mod is 128x128, not 80x84. It makes it a bit crisper and easier to work with, unless I'm wrong.

I noticed that too. Right now I am readjusting the sizes of some stuff because when I launched the game with it, quite a few were off center. I will be done today though, so we can look forward to that I guess.

Also, I am going throw my two cents in for the decadence thing. I am not sure it will work, because I read somewhere that decadence is exclusive to the Muslim religious group, not sure if this is hardcoded but we could try. One way to get around that is to name the group Muslim, and then localize it to the true name (Rust Cult) if that is an actual limitation.

Here are my full ideas for the North Korean religion. Its name could be a large variety of things, but I would recommend something to the affect of Juche, Kimism, or Korean. I'm going to divide this post into different sections for your viewing pleasure

How the religion was founded

After The Event, North Korea came out of its long-term isolation and expanded into all of the Korean Penninsula, most of Mongolia, parts of Siberia, and the coastal parts of China. Being the only government to maintain full control of its military after The Event, they managed to conquer these areas relatively easily. They stayed in this state for fifty to a hundred years, being ruled by the Dictator of North Korea who was required to be of the Kim dynasty and was the religious leader of this new empire. Soon, they began to build a warfleet to expand their empire even further, and after doing so, conquered Japan. During the invasion of Japan, their current Empreror Kim Kil Naw was given a vision by his great ancestor Kim Il Sung and he was told that he must destroy North Korea's eternal enemy, America. Kim Kil Naw changed the goal of the Japanese Invasion to just getting to the other side of it so that his ships could get to America. He died on the way to the Americas, and during the mourning period his ships were blown off course and crashed in Hawaii. His son, Kim Il Jong, conquered the Isles and found different parts of people claiming to be the old American government in an effort to become the most powerful warlord. Kim Il Jong in quick succession murdered the inhabitants of Hawaii and renamed it to New Korea. Two generations passed in New Korea before the Kims deciding that they must press even further East so that they may find the True American government. Nearly ten years before the start of the game, the New Korean ships landed in what used to be Washington State and parts of southern Vancouver. Here, they engaged in a brutal war with the Americansts who believed that one of the Fathers of America had chosen them to be the successors (They are even named after the greatest Father, George Washington). At the start of the game, the area is still torn between Joche/Kimist/Koreans and Americansts.

Unique features

The Joche/Kimist/Koreans would have the features of
  • They are lead by a member of the Kim dynasty, and if the title ever falls to someone not of that dynasty, it must be destroyed and every true Joche/Kimist/Koreans must kill themselves in order to pass to the next life (every character that isint cynical)
  • The Dictator (religious leader) is able to call Mass Migrations (crusades)
  • Every Joche/Kimist/Koreans that is not The Dictator must be below the level of emperor, or will be seen as an enemy of the Dictator
  • They are able to raid
  • They can navigate rivers (from their seafaring experiences)
  • Joche/Kimist/Koreans are always able to declare a special type of holywar against Americansts that would take all of their territory (Americansts could do the same to Joche/Kimist/Koreans)
  • Every Joche/Kimist/Koreans must have a state approved haircut
  • The succession type is Turkish (Open)
  • The Dictator may try and construct a Nuke

Special Relationship with other religions

Template - NameofRelegion:Relationship:ShortReasonWhy

Americanst : Enemies : The vision given by Kim Il Sung told Kim Kil Naw said that they will be eternal enemies
Atomicist : Friendly : The Joche/Kimist/Koreans believe that Atomicists hold secrets crucial to build nuclear weapons

Holy sites

These holy sites will be a bit odd as Joche/Kimist/Koreans are new to America

  • New Pyongyang (the capitol of the DPRK Empire in Washington)
  • Washington DC (It is said to be the ultimate seat of the Empire, as said by Kim Il Sung)
  • That one province where the tested Atom Bombs in the desert (Its a holy site of the Atomicists)

Outro

This isn't done yet, but I'm tired so I will retire for tonight. Tell me if you guys have any suggestions

I'm not a dev obviously, but I feel like that kind of detailed backstory, reliant on a lot of post-WWII history, doesn't really fit with the general approach to lore-building in the mod. And Juche in America seems kind of jokey to begin with. I could see it being fun, I just don't see it being the best option, you know?

What would Decadence involve for Rust Cult though? I'm really not sure.

I'd tie it into the idea of maintenance/moral decay; like with decandence, the ruler's need to show themselves to be competent rulers, otherwise their dynasty has decayed, gone "rusty" like the technology from the old world that has disappeared; alongside that, a ceremony akin to Ramadan (though I'll state now I have no real knowledge/experience with Islam so I mean no offense in the comparision) called "Maintenance" could be used for the faith; I'm imagining a ritual involving anointing the ruler with "holy" motor oil and ceremonial spanners, for instance

If it is hardcoded for the Muslim religion group; perhaps shift the Rust Cultist's into the old world pagan, and have the Consumerists, Americanists and Atomicists also work with this idea of "decay"; the Atomicists could even use that as the name for theirs, perhaps involving more ceremonies with atomic material (Americanist's could have a similar ceremony but on the 4th of July for instance; Consumerists on Black Friday/Christmas maybe?)

But beyond the basic idea I'll admit I'm none to sure on what mechanics they should use; I haven't played much with the Muslim's in vanilla CK2 so I can't draw from their either

Could the Prophet of the Commercialists get a decision on taking power to give a title to an investor in his court if he has more than two counties and in his court is an investor with no titles and no parents?
As from what i've seen so far, he doesn't naturally so there are no descendants of investors, they just sit around as landless courtiers until they die, childless and alone.

Also, on the Mormon thing, they're current icon is really cool. So if they are going to be getting a new one, could the horn blowing dude be used for someone else? or if that was just someone saying they had made one not part of an actual change, no worries then.
California looks cool, map wise, too.

Anychance pretty CoAs could be nicked from ARKO or CK2+ or one of those mods to replace the vanilla CKs alongside the new for this mod ones?

I really like your ideas for the Rust Cultists, but I don't think "decay" really fits into Consumerists, Americans, and Atomicists.

This seems like a pretty good idea, I'll think about making an event for this. Maybe it could specifically target counties recently acquired in a holy war.

Anyone know if there's a natural way to encourage this from the AI? For example, by giving the "promised_a_title" opinion modifier?

Im a bit confused by what you mean by too reliant on post WW2 history, do you mean just North Korea in general? If so, could you clear up why that's a bad thing? Also, I agree that it is pretty jokey, but it is meant to be that way. :eek:o

Among other things, yeah. Devs have made a general rule to avoid referencing anything after World War 2, keeping the apocalypse ambiguous. So it could have been a nuclear war between the US and USSR in the 50s, or it could have been a super-pandemic in our near future. So what you're proposing doesn't really mesh with that general philosophy.

I didn't realize that they followed that ideology, I apologize then. I always thought that they had meant to have The Event happen after our current time period.

I really like your ideas for the Rust Cultists, but I don't think "decay" really fits into Consumerists, Americans, and Atomicists.

I think the idea has been for the Consumerist's to have decadence as a mechanic but in the reverse; as for Atomicists, the actual decay of an atom, or loss of power I guess? And the Americanist's from das' suggestion; but yeah, my main focus is on the Rust Cultists (largely because of the 4, they're the only ones I've played extensively)

I thought this was fixed in the latest Github version, but if the president is totally gone you can cheat to give someone the presidency by giving them the c_americanist title.

I have the latest build (downloaded and started a new game today) and am still encountering this problem. Giving the title to someone with the console does not appear to work. It says the Presidency is given but nothing actually happens.

Just a quick suggestion, do you think some Arthurian flavor would work well with the followers of the High Church, especially in the Maritimes?
