Hey guys, i love the mod, and i have a suggestion, maybe you could make Abraham Lincoln's burial place in oak ridge cemetery, springfield be a holy site for the americanist religion? Just a idea.

I second this notion, and I think it should replace Rushmore. Rushmore is an absolute [REDACTED] to reconquer if it falls. Also, I doubt that Rushmore would survive the friggin' apocalypse.

On the contrary, why in the world wouldn't Mount Rushmore survive the apocalypse? Short of a direct hit by a nuke or asteroid, which seems highly unlikely.
Alright, I suppose it wouldn't be out of the question for Rushmore to survive. I forgot it was made into a granite mountain, which probably could survive. Derp. Still, Mount Rushmore seems impossible to recover if the Americanists out there die out. It's almost like Catholics in vanilla if they had to charge into Delhi to reclaim a holy site. There's so much to fight through that your ever-expanding realm might implode by the time you get there.

I don't think it's too different from having Jerusalem be a holy site for Christians in vanilla. Sure, it's far away and surrounded by enemies, but it's important to them, and it's not always bad to have a holy site take some work to reach.

Jerusalem has the convenience of being close to a shore in Non-Pagan territory. To get to Rushmore, you either need to cut a swathe through half of America, or lose a good 3/4 of your army trekking through it.

You wanna talk about distant holy places, look at the Mormons. Most Catholics are also about as far from Washington as most Americanists are from Rushmore. And in the base game holy sites are quite far apart for Jews and Zunists. Really I feel like the point is to find holy sites with only a secondary focus on gameplay; the others are all very close to the Americanist core region, and not only is Rushmore already Americanist, but it's the biggest monument to a president in the country. And not just one, but four. And the monument is literally their faces, not something abstract like an obelisk. If one place is a holy site for a religion that worships many ancient "Gods" based on poorly remembered history and ancient depictions of these Gods, other than DC, it'd be Mt. Rushmore.

I'd compare it more to Córdoba. once that falls, it can be difficult for Muslims to regain it. However, you might have a point in that it is a little far. Another player and I were discussing the possibility of having americanist invasions called filibusters, perhaps one of the targets could be Rushmore. If the powers that be are willing to implement it, would you be willing to accept this as a compromise?

Also, for the record some of the Catholic holy places are WAY to far.

It seems to me that vanilla is kind of built in such a way that major religions have one hard to reach holy place. Getting the last one is more like a boost in MA than expected MA. Pagans and indians are the exception since indians can flip flop around and pagans are supposed to start with few and slowly collect them.

With the extension of the map to include the northern rim of South America, I'll make a small suggestion that might help add flavor to one place when the time comes.
I played a game in the Trinidad & Tobago area, and then researched the RL country that exists there now in curiosity, and I found that apparently the largest clear ethnic group there is composed of workers brought over from India (today actually many people from Trinidad and Tobago have Indian names and surnames), with the Afro-Trinidadian population just behind it in size.

I'm not saying Hinduism could come into the mod here (really not), but maybe now is a good time to utilize the Indian portrait packs (both the old one that was released with RoI, and the new-ish South Indian one that is free upon forum confirmation)?

On that topic, are there other former British colonies in the Caribbean that have large or significant Indian diaspora populations?

Also, we should add the cultural feature that they believe in reincarnation, indian religions have this tag and it sometimes gives characters the event in which they are considered the reincarnation of another character, which gives them the <<Reincarnated>> trait, and might give them an event to recieve one of the pre-reincarnated person's traits

Apparently Guyana's largest ethnic group is also descended from Indian migrants. Same for Suriname it seems.
Some of the "Calypsonian" islands other than Trinidad/Tobago also have some Indian populations today, though mostly small it looks like..

Making the Guyana ethnic groups (all three of them) in the mod have Indian or South Indian portraits included along with the other portraits would be apt, I think.
Same for Calypsonian I think.
That's all I'm suggesting here.

Americanists don't need to control Rushmore, beyond the aesthetics of having all five holy sites filled in. Their Moral Authority can be kept very high merely by electing high-patriotism Presidents (who are likely to be elected anyway). So having Rushmore be a holy site is flavour that doesn't detract from gameplay at all as far as I'm concerned.

That would be a relatively simple change. In the culture folder, just change the .gfx of the relevant cultures to indiangfx or whatever the actual term for it is.

On the subject of the potential loss and nearly impossible-to-recover nature of Mt. Rushmore, there is another possible solution.

Give Americanists the same event chain Atomicists have at certain chosen sites - the ability to spread spontaneously, whether or not the feudal lord above them supports it or not.

The obvious areas for this ability, like Mt. Rushmore, Washington D.C., and so on are already under Americanist control at game start, rendering it mostly irrelevant. However, if Americanism is struggling to survive as a religion, this could allow it some areas to regrow and bounce back with new leaders.

This may also give the Americanists (one of the most fleshed out and iconic religions of the mod) more game presence, but in a subtle, enduring way (instead of throwing large Americanist empires on the map or similar). It would help the possibility of getting presidents from different regions and cultures as well.

So i'm new here but is most of the south american counts and characters supposed to be unplayable in the new update?
That's because most of the counties are not actually assigned rulers for game start, so they have to be generated at scenario start. Thus, when you're looking at the map for who to play, you can't choose those characters (and thus their land) because they don't exist yet.

It's just a speed of development thing. Eventually, the mod devs will assign characters there, but they're busy on other features. This has happened in other regions before, and was especially endemic when you're following region-by-region map updates.

I got a CTD today while playing Ontario as soon as the redcoats started their invasion. I also didn't get any other invasions other than Japan (I don't know if that's normal).

I don't have enough info now but i suspect maybe there's a problem with redcoat events.
