I have an idea; mix up the Sagrado areas with Roman Catholic rulers who listen to the Pope in St. Louis. It would make sense, since some would be educated enough to know about what Sagrado Corazon is based on. This would add instability to the region, and an even split would make it an arms race between the Old School Catholics and the cult of saints.

That could just as easily turn into a heresy that simply wishes to establish a Mexican Papacy though, in a similar manner to the Ursulines. Come to think of it, you can actually have a heresy be in a different religious group from its parent, so a Sagrado Corazon heresy that's in the Christian group could actually work.

At one point I made a pull request to add a matriarchal heresy to Sagrado Corazon similar to this (except no cross-group), but for some reason my on_actions didn't work after uploading them.

I'm filling out the description of the Falling Star religion, which has been on the to-do list for just about forever:

Sometime either during or just after the Apocalypse, the faith of the Falling Star believe a star fell from the heavens and onto Earth. This star was a fallen angel, who had sacrificed themselves to save mankind from God’s wrath, explaining humanity’s survival. Practitioners of the Falling Star faith are generally viewed with suspicion by those with more traditional Christian beliefs, as the concept of fallen angels are generally thought of as evil, and associated with Satan. However, the Falling Star faith insist their angel has little in common with the fallen angel Lucifer, and that their angel’s compassion reawakened God’s mercy in a moment of anger. Thus, members of the Fallen Star still fall under the Christian banner, albeit with a theology that features great devotion to their fallen “star”.

The star, in actuality, was one of Earth's space stations falling out of the atmosphere, perhaps with the Skeleton of an Astronaut inside. This formed the basis of the faith. However, I don't think I'll be able to fit that into the description, but I think we might try and get it into Falling Star flavour if we can.

The Falling Star faith borrows from the Yazidi faith is some respects.

I love everything about that.

How practical would the football-inspired grids being the only things on some helmets protecting the head below the eyes be? If nothing else, it seems awfully fragile (by battlefield standards).

You had me until "zombie".
Well, you started to lose me at "funnier events," but "zombie"...

I, like Karzan, would like to know what religions need better flavor. Not ones which have un-implemented flavor, mind—I won't be able to help with those.

Fine -- just a plague then. We need more plagues! Lol. I was saying zombie because this mod already has plenty of silly, fun, post-apocalyptic flavor. I'm a bit surprised there's no Road Warrior or Fetish-Leather Culture.

By the way, since some people were wondering about the new religion icons, I was the guy who made them. Here's a comparison image, up old, down new:
BVN9Hjj.png

I just remade the ones that seemed like needing an overhaul ( For example, the Ursuline, Cetic, Gaian, the whole Mesoamerican group and a couple others were already excellently done and I didn't think they needed a rework ). I also made icons for those religions lacking them ( Santería, Candomblé. Confederated ), icons for the new religions ( Gracia Divina and Espiritista ), and reformed religion icons for the Pagan religions ( Revelationist, Rust Cultist, Occultist and Thelemic ).
I like the new religion icons! I do have a question though; what's the symbol for the vanilla Aztec religion for? If memory serves me right it isn't used in AtE, with Mictlantec being the mainstream Aztec religion.

Edit: I just downloaded the most recent version of the mod via Reddit. It's looking good so far, though I do have a few suggestions/critiques. For starters, I feel like Espiritista takes up a lot of South America; I personally would try to add a few other religions in South America (I made some suggestions a few posts ago, if you're interested in ideas you can go there) to diversify things. Also, there really needs to be a 'river' province in Panama to represent the Panama Canal, like the Erie Canal in New York. Beyond that, the map expansion looks good so far.

One little thing that bugs me is that Grangelanders don't have Horse Archer gfx. If you play as the one Grangelander Horde, the Horse Archer models will be replaced with Heavy Infantry models. It's just a little thing that bugs me

As something else to add; perhaps you could add that along with their fallen angel, the Falling Star faith believe many other angels, demons and spirits fell to Earth, and so their faith has a level of animism to it, with locals often worshipping at shrines for local deities that are under the Falling Star umbrella

What does being "judged by the atom" entail? As an Atomicist, I captured an opponent's entire royal family and saw the option to let the Atom judge them. Thinking it'd be a brutal and zealous way to eradicate my rival's entire dynasty, I proceeded to send every member to be judged. Then... they were released. No events. No decisions. No nothing. No description of their braving the radioactive fire. No skin bubbling and burning. Nothing! The Aztecs cut out hearts with knives... I've got active radiation and I can't do anything? Is this a bug?

Or is Atomicist one of the religions that needs some more flavor? I can help if y'all like.

Is there an update beyond 0.6.1 for this?

We cautious creeping towards, *I guess*, a 0.7 release *some* (note: vague) time after the Conclave DLC comes out, but don't quote me boy becuz I ain't said shit.

That sort of sounds like a bug. Getting "Judged" by the Atom is more or less trial by fire: You're dumped near some radioactive material and people see if you survive. If you survive the faith think you're blessed, that the atom favours you. You come out with cancer; well gosh gees, I guess you must be a bad person because the atom seems displeased with you.

Being released is one possible outcome. Others include death, going insane, becoming an Atomicist, becoming zealous, or withstanding the judgement for another month. All characters with the "atom_judged" flag have a high chance of getting an event with the following text:
Event Text said:
You've been feeling quite feverish and fatigued recently. You call in your court physician who informs you that you have a wasting illness, one even Old World medicine could not cure, probably caused by your exposure to the light of Atomos.

Trying to create my own version of Caesar's Legion in this game. So far, I have successfully added the culture "Legion" to the indian cultures text file, along with suitable roman names (though, right now, I am looking up more latin words for animals/things, as these seem more suited to the legion in addition to names like Flavius, Lanius, etc.). I can pick the culture in the Character Creator and have placed Edward Sallow in Flagstaff. However, I was wondering what you guys think is the best religion to use to represent the Caesar's Legion ethos, where the head of the Legion is seen as the son of God (Mars) or, after Caesar himself, a successor of the son of God? Furthermore, what type of kingdom/culture/religion would best represent their incredibly bloody ways and their horde-like conquest of the Four Corners states?

EDIT:

If anybody knows a list of which religions can ask their courtiers/vassals to convert, as well, that'd be helpful. "Pagan" doesn't seem to be able to.

Would they be Nomads or?

Someone has said it before, but I'll say it again, Yoopers should use the Finnish-Urgric unit pack, because the Upper Peninsula had a lot of immigrants from Finland move there and a lot of Yoopers today can trace their roots back to Finland. Also no other culture to my knowledge uses the Unit pack.

Bumping this from a couple pages back, since it's a fairly neat idea and probably easy to implement. The Yooper names in the game are actually kinda Finnish already, although slightly weird and old-fashioned, so the modders are definitely aware of the connection. Fits perfectly with the mod's idea of America getting nuked straight in the mainstream culture, so all the regions start identifying more with their roots and such.

Also, I really like the idea of more unique crowns for different cultures and/or religions. You could really go ham on the emperor crowns as icing on the cake for making it big time. I can totally imagine the legendary Norse king who manages to unite enough land under his rule to call himself an emperor or fylkir or whatever ordering his top scholars to go through all the ancient records they can find for the most appropriate thing for the Ruler of All Vikings to wear, only for them to come back with a huge horned helmet and him going "yeah, that seems very epic and manly and vikingly to me".

Hey, it's me, again.
After some games with HIP, I really feel like the arkopack interface is a must, so I made myself a small patch to make it compatible with After the end, and thought it would be nice to share it with you guys.
Here is how it looks :

YzIgvg8.png
The only necessary modifications were the religion icons and the frontend.gui. BTW, wouldn't it be better to use localisation to change the text rather than editing the frontend.gui?
I also felt the main screen was extremely underwhelming, looking at northern mexico isn't very exciting, I changed the area and camera angle to fit the whole map and here is how it looks :
8EVqNFf.jpg
For those interested, here is my work :
http://www.mediafire.com/download/m6cehbohlhkkv7u/ARKOpack interface - ATE patch.rar
For this to work, you need to have both "After the End 0.6.1" & "-ARKOpack Interface-" enabled first, otherwise the interface will be a mess.
ARKOpack interface can be found here (only used the interface, I didn't try the armoiries) :
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/mod-arkopack-armoiries-interface.603251/

Thanks to Arko for allowing me to use his work, and to the After the end team for their amazing mod :)

Okay. But no event for the Atomicist that actually puts somebody through a trial? Just a suggestion for a flavor event, then, which tells the Atomicist what occurred -- the court watching, whether the judged person survives, etc.

Would they be Nomads or?

I have them as Tribal. Starting in Jicarilla (as it's Arizona, but not immediately in Flagstaff, the eventual capital). The roadblock I've run into is porting GoT's slavery system over, as it's a bit intense and I don't want to miss something. and mistakenly fuck up the game. As it is, I think Tribal represents the Legion well, with large amounts of light infantry and the Tribal Warriors decision allowing for big armies so long as you keep prestige up -- if I coudl get the slavery system ported, it'd be even better. Something else I'd like to change is to add a Legion CB or make it so that the Cult of Mars does not suffer from Holy War cooldowns, in order to better represent the lust for conquest, but also the way that Caesar could get over-extended. I've gotten all of the titles to show up properly. Cult of Mars Emperors are "Caesars." Cult of Mars Kings are "Legates." Cult of Mars Dukes are "Dux." and Cult of Mars Counts are "Centurions." I'm thinking of changing the last one, and simply making the "Commander" and "Marshal" titles Centurions. But then I'd need a replacement for "Count."

In addition, once I get the slavery system ported, I'd like to make some custom decisions/events for the Cult of Mars, like crucifying prisoners if they are of a different religion or have the "craven" trait.

That's an interesting idea...I could see it being a "new sect rising" event chain, with the first province to flip being the seat of the Mexican papacy, if that's possible.

At one point I made a pull request to add a matriarchal heresy to Sagrado Corazon similar to this (except no cross-group), but for some reason my on_actions didn't work after uploading them.
Presumably one where the Virgin Mary is the greatest saint?

I love the HIP mod, and generally like the new interface, but there is one glaring problem I see (or, rather, cannot see).
The character screens lack the button that shows a realms power. (The little one that has the liege, then the vassals branching off beneath him, and their vassals?) It really helps in figuring out who the most powerful vassals are, and it's hard to work without in HIP.

I would prefer the Mexican Pope being the Bishop of Mexico City or some important Mexican province, and not some random province that might be dirt poor.

Bishop of the See of the Holy Virgin at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

As for a Sagrado Corazon heresy, Santa Muerte is heavily based on Mary, so what if the two are identified as one another. Mary who age birth to the savior of mankind, is life while Santa Muerte is death. Images could take from the Aztec Mictalantec and represent the holy virgin as half alive an half dead.

My matriarchal heresy had exclusively female bishops, and the religious head was the Lady of Guadalupe, who had the powers of excommunication and collecting taxes from "Madres" that liked her more than their liege.
