Honestly of all the possible mods or expansions that will be made the number one thing that I want is the map expanded. The whole world is not as necessary, but even just adding the Americans would be great. The war of 1812 would be such an interesting event for Britain needing to decide the balance between holding Canada and fighting France.
I would love a war game from Paradox set exclusively in the ACW. That would be very cool.
I cannot wait to start playing MotE. Pre-Ordered already, with just enough time to read and study the manual and dev diaries tomorrow so I can dive right in on Monday.
Doesn't even have to function as a separate game, give the launcher a scenario drop-down menu that lets us pick the expansion before loading. That way the expansions would play like a total conversion mod. If MotE turns out to be as good as I hope, I'd easily pay 10-15 dollars for a reskin set in another conflict.
I think a lot of these ideas are really good. Hopefully the developers don't limit the game's scope to just Europe. Maybe even adding in some more depth with revolts of war exhausted armies or something along that line.
That sounds like a good idea! However, you have to remember that there are features in the American Civil War (and I would guess most other wars that this system would try for), that would require more than a 'reskin' to properly simulate. Something that I would adore that could properly be done with the same mechanics (as far as my thin understanding would say) is the War of 1812. I lust for a game that could simulated that. It may eventually get added in to MotE, through expansions or DLC, considering that it was occurring simultaneously with Napoleon's wars in Europe.
If it were included, aside from the awesome ability to play in North America, it would pose an interesting situation for Great Britain. You could try to retake the United States and subjugate them back into a part of their empire, devoting too much of your power in the Americas and risk becoming too thin in Europe, or vice vera, (where the latter being the case could see the US taking Canada and posing a threat to Europe. Indeed, despite being still a very young and sprouting nation, the United States could actually be well modeled in, with Victory Points in key cities in Canada and Mexico.
The supply and combat system is perfect for the american civil war too I think, they could make a 20 dollar standalone dlc for it?
Really happy to have read this, I am looking really forward to this game so I hope for dlc's and expansions for MotE
I'd like to see it go backwards in time, in addition to forward. I think the higher military focus and idea/research of MOTE would do well for something covering the 18th century, although the diplomacy would probably need to be modified a bit.
Yeah I also just wanted to say: Seven Years War! In my opinion, perfectly suited to the map and with some slight changes to the gameplay of MotE!
What I would also like.. but this is propably really only me who likes it - I am more of a singleplayer type..
would be a rather heavily scripted campaign where you play ONLY as France from the Revolutionary Wars all the way to 1815. I imagine something similar to the Dies Irae DLC's for Hoi3 (unfortunately no longer supported) where you lead a single country through WW2 with lots of events and more predetermined - but also way more detailed - than the standard game. I think this would work perfectly for France with lots of choices and events for you to make.

I think a DLC covering all three of the Silesian Wars would be great. If it also covered the French and Indian War portion in N. America as well that would be even better. War of the Spanish Succession could be fun too.
