In my opinion the parklife change then gamestyle so much that for me this is basically the reason why they should release Cities Skylines 2. And clean up the game to make sure all mechanics are done in one style.
The game is now little mess with mixed old mechanics and new ones. It has to be really confusing for new players to see you can build parks as leveled up districs and also place parks as roadside buildings. Why? Similar with industry etc.

It would be nice, to basically remove the old mechanics (dont remove the props etc... just merge them with the new mechanics. So all old park assets could be used as park of parklife. etc). And then release the new fresh version of the game, where all mechanics are unified again.

I don't find simple games interesting - and this one is still very simple, just for pleasure, even if some people get confused just because they cannot focus on anything for longer than 3 seconds.

Just had an idea about a mini dlc like cities concerts: conventions.

We can build modular convention centers that have in door and out door exhibitions and conference halls. It works like campus/park district but on a much smaller scale (one or two blocks maybe).

We can hold all kinds of conventions: businesses forum, technology innovation, product exhibition, film festival, comic con, and so on. Each type of convention grants a temporary boost to the city depending on what they are for, and have their own unique set of requirements or problems, like business forum requires you to have an international airport, while product exhibition generates a ton of truck traffic. Thus, it is Sometimes necessary to build several convention centers at different locations of the city for different kinds of conventions.

The "deathwave" is actually not a problem.. or at least something faulty.. When you build you city.. many people move in a once.. these are "young families" and they all grow old together a die at the same time.. So in that sense it's accurate.. I't takes time to get a mix/match of the populations to be diverse age vise

In that case then isn't the solution a simple case of make it so that when people "move in" they are all various ages instead of all of them being young?

Starting to sound like "Mass Transit 2".

:)

"Mass Transit" is my favourite DLC by far so i would love to see a "Mass Transit 2".

There is so much more that they could add to the "Transit" part of the game that they could easily add enough for a "Mass Transit 2". For example:
  • More "hubs" like the "Monorail, Bus" hub and other that were added.
  • More varied buses (especially with the fact that in the last update they added the option to change bus model).
  • Metro: everybody wants the metro system upgraded, changed, from more metro station options to "over ground" metro.
  • Passenger planes.
  • They could even take the "parklife" style and apply it to "Transit" by allowing you to create your own "Transit Hubs".
  • Even more that i can't think of at the moment........
A type of DLC that i would love to see would be a DLC that adds random events to the game like: car accidents, roadworks, traffic jams because of broken down cars, street fairs / festivals that close roads, protests that close roads. In my opinion these would be awesome.

The problem with that is removing the old systems would mean no industry or parks for anyone who doesn't have the DLCs. That would not only mess up existing cities, but it would also mess up the game for anyone without those DLCs and very much make the DLCs mandatory to level up your city. Even if they could just remove the old systems when you have the DLC, that would still mess a ton with existing cities. I totally agree it's confusing and messy, but removing the old system would not solve anything. I'm really not sure it could be solved outside of them making a new game with a more unified system, and so far they're still committed to supporting the current version.
You've put the finger on one of the problems with the current CK-inspired "optional DLC" model, which I've been calling out for a while. If we rather had a chain of big expansions where each one requires the last one, HoI3-style, they'd be able to revamp and cleanup systems like that as they go. It'd definitely result in a better and more healthy game for the true fans who buy most of the content that comes out anyways. (I'd really like a ski resort DLC or other assorted mountain/winter content for instance, but fat chance of that happening since it'd require the Snowfall DLC.)

But overall, I wouldn't like the new parks and industries to replace the vanilla ones without some mechanism to mass-move all those manually placed elements. Perhaps grouping up several painstakingly props and buildings together for movement purposes. A big part of Cities Skylines is the traffic management, and adding more and more stuff that's really difficult and tedious to move out of the way when enlarging roads doesn't mesh well with this management.
I think they need to get rid of the area painting as well, it's clunky and it gets hard to see what's going on when overlaid with districts. Seems to me that a proximity system where buildings automatically "link" to the main gate or other linked buildings would work better. You can always have the painting tool as a last resort if people want two of the same park type or two campuses next to each other for some reason.

BTW I wish they somehow took advantage of the park-like areas to support "large growables". For farms especially, I was hoping they'd support painting an area that would be procedurally filled with fields, unrestricted by the 4x4 limitations.

My idea would probably brake existing cities, but:
I'd like more sophisticated power management. Demand curves for citizens and industry. Supply curves for renewables and a purpose for base load power stations.

I may be in the minority but I don't like the new DLCs that much. It is just too much micromanagement, I would love to see more macro based DLCs like After Dark.
Or even better a Cities Skylines 2 which can use the newer more powerful PCs and make use of more than one CPU core.

Power demand going up and down with the temperature already annoys me.

I still like the DLCs, but I could do with less micromanagement. Campus' Universities being able to level down as well as up is not a plus for me.

There are lots of folks that want more challenge and more micromanagement. We could very well be in the minority.

Depends on what you consider to be a challenge and micromanagement. City painters like me are dealing with artistic questions about where to put buildings and zones that have the right "look" but also permit good traffic flow and supply chain connections. I may have fires turned off, but I'm still placing fire stations in neighborhoods so that I'll have proper coverage.

But I get it how there's the C:S player that wants to deal with city hall issues and cracking the puzzle of keeping a budget while still providing good levels of services to the community...

... and then there's the C:S player that is constantly searching the Workshop for that one more asset that will make that neighborhood theme he's assembling come together perfectly.

This is a bit of a Moonshot but C:S is published by Paradox, who own WW who published the World of Darkness RPG(s)- See Bloodlines for a taste of those as a Vampire The Masquerade CRPG.

Now imagine the problems/potentials in the 5 supernatural strains of the WoD, parks attracting Garou, Vampires drawn to leisure districts, the changelings in a little artistic commune, Mages battling in churches and academic halls, the fanfare and fallout of the 5 squabbling and jockeying for control.

Or for a more total conversion go with Exalted! You don't want to know what I would pay for Cities : skylines, the Hundred Kingdoms, placing you as making a city state in the eastern threshold of creation dealing with Gods, Exalted, Rakasha, the Guild, the Wyld hunts and Deathlords.

Depends on what you consider to be a challenge and micromanagement.

Well, some people want to micromanage the power grid, as above. Some want to run ISPs and string internet cables everywhere. Some want politics and political campaigns. Some want more control over public transit. I'm sure there's a dozen other things that just don't come to mind right now that I would find tedious to micromanage.

Some people want more challenge. I don't want it to be harder, I want it to be funner! :)

They aren't wrong to want what they want, but I don't want any of that.

I don't mind fixing some traffic and whatnot, but I am mostly a painter (though not currently using the workshop, all Vanilla/DLC). Have not been playing with infinite money either. I like that things happen, and the city seems alive, doing its thing. But I don't want to dive in too deep. Just "paint".

This game is a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

I may have fires turned off, but I'm still placing fire stations in neighborhoods so that I'll have proper coverage.

I still have it on, and I don't mind the fire spread thing... but it gets out of hand in Parks. Parklife and Natural Disasters are incompatible in my opinion. My parks were constantly burning to the ground, even with three or more fire helicopter depots. And it was very tedious rebuilding a hundred campsites and so on.

Someone mentioned a modular airport DLC. I am just too lazy to build all the stuff on my own. If such a DLC would appear I really would like to just download some of the user build airports, mostly realistic ones.

Issue with REMOVING old parks to incorporate them into Parklife DLC: Not everyone buys Parklife, and those who don't can't place or use old parks. People would have content they paid for in the base game unless they pay more to keep them. This is not right.

I suspect that future DLCs will follow the same Area based formula as Campus, Industries and Parklife.

Here's what I am hoping for in next few DLCs

1. Tourism focused DLC:
- Airport Area
- Historic Old Town Area (+ related event)
- Modern Expo Centre Area (+ related events)
- Castle Ruins Area
- ? Maybe a tourist focused harbour area ?

2. Leisure and Resorts
- Beach Resort Area (+ shoreline rescue)
- Countryside Resort Area
- Highland Resort Area

3. Health and Wellness
- Hospital Area
- Sports Village Area
- Wellness Centre Area

4. Outside Sports
- Golf Course Area
- Racing Track Area
- Paintball Arena Area

5-7. Probably there are Area based reworks of Residential, Commerce and Office zones in the works, which would be very welcome but they are rather obvious ones.

8. I would also love to see a rework and expansion of the other public services. More assets and events related to those. Also introduction of government related buildings. It could include things like:
- SWAT teams
- City Wardens
- Security CCTV Network
- Chemical Rescue Teams
- Electricity, Water and Sewage Maintenance Buildings and Cars
- Modular and expandable Waste Dumps and Cemeteries (+ Junkyards)
- Functional Government Buildings, like City Hall, Tax Office and various departments allowing for boost of certain areas of city life.

9. Cars and other vehicles are essential part of city life, yet vehicles life-cycle is rather neglected. We need parking lots, variety of gas/petrol stations, car washes, garages for maintenance and junkyards. Also car accidents and dedicated rescue teams.

There is probably a lot more things to add than those, which I forgot at the moment. I hope at least some of the above will be implemented before Colossal moves one to C:S 2.
