After 1410 h of playing CK2, most of the time with joy, this is my share of what I think is needed to groom CK2 to perfection (so the developer can start developing CK3 ).

First of all I like the baseline behind the last DLCs to enrich the game (what can my rulers do) a lot more than to simply enlarge the game (I can now conquer India too).

1. Favors

Let’s start with the favor system. It's a cool concept but I can't often find any use for them. There should be more opportunities to spend favors outside the counsel context. I would combine them with the way of life focuses.

The values should be depending on the rank of the person who owned you a favor. An Emperor is awesome, a baron just nice.

Intrigue - Force the ruler who owns you a favor to support your plot EVEN when he or she is not eligible to support. It's like the spy master in the region who just flat increase the plot chance. -> convert favor to plot power

Hunting - Force someone to cede their hunting grounds for a season. -> convert favor to prestige

War - Request the personal guards of the leader who owns you a favor to gain extra troops. -> convert favor into event spawned troops

Carousing - You are praised, your vassals like you more. -> convert favor into opinion

Family - Force the ruler who owns you a favor to talk the talk about the birds and the bees and stuff. -> convert favor into fertility

Theology - Force someone to make a generous donation to one of your monasteries for a new building. -> convert favor into a new building in a religious holding

Learning - Ask for tutors for your university -> convert favor into research points

Business - Force the ruler who owns you a favor into a monopoly for your traders. -> convert favor into money or prosperity

Rulership - Ask for incorruptible sheriffs -> convert favor into deleting all negative buffs in your provinces like smuggler, increasing prosperity

On a general level favors should drag someone into a war EVEN when he or she is normally not allowed to participate.

When the pope owns you a favor you can request any papal action including invasions and claims.

There should be events to gain events from bordering heathens to spice the system up. Example: Emir X went too far into the dessert to catch the white lion. He crossed the border into your dominion. As price for your mercy he owns you now a favor.

In general, should any spy on action and the spy master events include more possibilities to gain a favor. It is not so much my goal to increase the amount a favors but to have more potential sources.

2. Hospitals

I like the idea of hospitals, but right now I think Hospitals are not worth the effort beside being some kind of large university. They help somewhat against standard diseases but with the invested money I could have conquered a lot of new land to have simply more population.

Every successful defense against a disease outbreak should bring a little news with a prestige or piety bonus to visualize the success of the hospital in that region.

Other ideas are:

Hospitals should have a positive effect on the property growth rate

AND | OR

An event should trigger saying that the physicians trying to fight of a disease in their country but you as liege lord has to support them. -> convert money into disease defense through the hospital

AND | OR

Have Hospitals a personal impact on your court members like increasing the skill of court physician, spawn free physicians, reroll a negative treatment of your physician or offer treatment for stress, depression or madness.

3. Empire Customization

If you are playing long enough you end up with an empire in your hands, which is cool! But beside the Byzantine Empire they are all basically the same, just a different name and coat of arms. I would love an event chain that lets you customize your empire.

Honor Guard

Choose one mercenary group as the honor guard of the imperial family. They work like the Varangian Guard of the Byzantine Empire.

Imperial Law

Show your supremacy by legislate new laws that allow more civilized punishments like castration or poetry readings in your realm or the concept of children are born in purple or allow concubines officially even in Christian courts …

Improved administration

Your council members are the best, they can perform actions they normally can’t like a Christian steward has the “Build Legend” ability or a Tribal marshal can “Research Military Tech”.

Since we have now this great starting screen where we can switch off or increase specific aspects of the games, I’m otherwise very happy how CK2 developed over the years.

At the very least Favours should be tradable for gold in a manner similar to ransoms - a courtier favour will net you 10 gold, a Baron 25 etc, limited to the maximum gold that they have on hand. There should of course be a chance that the target will refuse to cough up which may lead to them becoming a rival . . .

I for one would like to see a lot more interaction with courtiers, so maybe courtier favours could be used to get you "on the inside" with other more important characters. I think it would be neat throwing some cash around and carousing with various courtiers and building up a network of spies, informants and surrogates to support and spread your cause.

Of course the same should apply to the AI, so seeing what happened when your network started intriguing their network would be way cool !
