.. I have to say that I was too busy dealing with my empire to wage war with other empires (ok that early-space age planet invasion doesn't count: they badly need some guidance to be left alone.. some minor wars don't count too...... ;) )

An this was exactly what I was expecting since day-1 of Stellaris: a great-strategy, empire building game in space era, not the "good-old 4X" game with a nice graphic and some goodies.

I know that something is still not perfect, some civics are probably OP others need some boost.. but this is fine tuning and I'm more than sure that this would be fixed in next patches (or by some mod), and the bugfixing is a never-ending story, you know...

But the feeling of the game is changed. Banks/Utopia is really a quantum leap for this game, and I want to congratulate with @Wiz and all the dev teams for this great expansion.

I've been playing for 2 days straight, even took "sick days" from work. 150 years in, reached Transcendence perk, still waiting for next event to breach the shroud (got psionic shields and addition pop change so far), have 6 unique factions...as the message we all are familiar with early on in the game...

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

I agree that this game is maturing quite well. I haven't played since 1.2 or so and it seems to me that it kept all the good and replaced or repaired most of the problems. I especially like how I now can explicitly tell how to improve (or at least not harm) relations with the factions.

Great job Paradox! Thanks Wiz for refining the vision of what this game should be.

I am totally in agreement with this. I haven't played the game for the past two months, and last night I fired up Utopia around 11pm. I stopped playing at 4:30am because I was falling asleep at my computer.

This is a wonderful step in the right direction and the game finally feels alive. Plus, there are so many solid foundations introduced that will be absolutely amazing when they are fleshed out in the future. Good job @Wiz.

I'm really enjoying it already, but the only issue I have is how long it takes to get megastructures, I understand they are a end game mechanic but by the stage you start building them you are already dealing with the late game lag which makes the decades of building them even slower. And that is not taking into account that they are way, way over priced for what you get in return. I am still building a Dyson Sphere, but I am guessing it will cost 160,000 Minerals, for only 400 energy. When by that stage if you can afford it, you have already conquered most the map, or you are better off trading minerals for energy with allies, as you are likely to have won the game way before you get your moneys worth out of it, if you don't quit before it is built.

Well my play style certainly has changed. I am still grabbing as much real estate as I can early on. But I can actually develop and grow afterwards without the need for constant conquest. Habitats and other things create a situation where it's a decision between massively improving your empires economy in the long run or punching out your neighbours to increase your territory. Prior only the latter was really a choice.

Also started grabbing vassals again, pretty much vassalizing most of my smaller neighbours so they can act as a buffer between me and whatever, aswell as getting the increased fleet cap and such.

Agreed! Truly feels like a grand strategy title now, rather than the simple 4x it used to!
It still is a 4x but it has gotten a whole lot more depth.
