Going to highjack this thread since you got your answer.
I'm attempting African Power as well (3rd attempt), and I felt like I was close for a while but now I'm unsure if I can make it. This is the situation in 1749:
Funj is a vassal. By my calculation I'm missing 44 provinces with a combined development of 320. That in itself I don't think is a problem. The problem is the Ottos and their provinces, which are 36 provinces with 266 dev. Spains 4 provinces are no problem, and I reckon I can take St Helena off the Brits easily enough (forgot St. Helena was African when I took two islands from them 5 years previously).
The Ottos are currently destroying Russia (+84 warscore):
OK, so to the gist of the problem. I was stuck in a war against Otto, the brits and a huge Jaunpur earlier in the century, where I, the Commonwealth and Hungary managed to not lose through pure attrition. And I grabbed 3 Otto forts in Africa, broke their alliances with Britain, Jaunpur and one other Great Power. I planned to attack Ottos using Commonwealth and Hungary as cannonfodder, but Commonwealth just broke their alliance and made me a rival. Ottos are now allied with Algiers, Brandenburg & Malacca, which basically means they are alone. I'm allied with Hungary, Baluchistan and Ming, but Ming is a new one and will most likely not join any war. Troop and ship numbers are as follows:
My initial plan is to attack Algiers with imperialism CB and have Otto as Co-belligerent. Quickly overrun Algiers for ticking warscore, rush Ottos remaining african forts. Block the straight at the Red Sea and fight in Egypt. If Ottos bring too many troops, then fall back behind lvl 8 forts in the desert, and leave their manpower to drain before reengaging. Then peace out Algiers by taking Otto land and leaving Algiers intact, and hopefully rince and repeat when truce is over.
Is this a viable strategy? Have I left myself too much to do to get all provinces in time?
