For those who like to paint the map here is a bit of an exploit on how to mitigate AE, it takes a few things to set up however.
1: You need to have the Expansion Group completed
2: You need to have a non western neighbor on whom you can use the CB (preferably a horde since they don't westernize)
3: You need that Horde to be in a Coalition against you
4: Get your War target to join the coalition (let's say France)
5: Declare war on the Horde with the Overseas expansion CB (50% AE, 50% cost)
6: Win the coalition war and notice that any provinces taken in Europe will still be subject to the 50% AE and 50% WS cost modifier.
What this basically means is that you can impose what is effectively 200% WS for 100% AE. You can make huge land grabs this way or simply take the amount you would normaly be able to get at a 50% reduced AE cost. It's also a Superiority War goal meaning you can rake in massive amounts of WS from killing low tech units or simply fighting battles.
Whether or not this is truly an exploit is not for me to decide, but have fun with it while it lasts.
