I know that if you reach the highest level in a Warrior Lodge, and then choose the "build legend" decision, and then fill up the bar, and go on an adventure, you can potentially forge a Warrior Bloodline.

The problem is that the last few times I attempted this I ended up dying before I could fill the build legend decision, even when joining the lodge at 16.

Does anyone have advise on a way around this?

uff I dont know what you could do besides surviving, I.e. stacking Health etc.
Maybe try recruting your heir as child, so that he is a middle aged adult by the time you Start the gathering.
other than that you could "rush" the gathering and fill the bar by doing lots of lots of duels and fullfilling missions (every Mission and duel increases the percentage of the bar).

on the otherhand if your ruler already dies while waiting for his legendary journey to Start, he definelty is not fit to fight and survive the actual journey, as normaly you stack several debuffs and injouries. Perhaps this natural selection is not that Bad, as you coudnt Start a new legendary journey for 100 years if you were to die during that Trip.

If you die while the bar is filling the journey still fires but your heir id likely not a hero and thus wont go on it. This happened to me recently. The screwup ai failed the journey and i can't fire it again for 100 years. Thems the breaks though. It wouldn't make sense to just abandon the prep for the gathering just because the leadership changed hands.

You can always invite your heirs yourself. They often join themselves too.
I also noticed a pattern that good heirs attain hero rank very fast if they are unlanded, often faster than you yourself.

Fight, duel, raid and fight some more, basically. Make sure you do all the missions, and go easy on using Renown points.

It's mostly a matter on what you do with the prerogatives you have when in the Lodge, I think. I made extensive use of the Veteran-level Baltic Holds power in order to drastically improve my holdings without needing to spend so much Prestige on it, but that has the side effect of costing Renown every time you do it.

When you save up Renown and use it only sparingly, I would expect a member to be able to make it to Hero in reasonable time. Especially if they join as kids. I've seen children of my ruler reaching Veteran status before turning 30.

Yeah, I very much agree that you should go light on spending renown. About the only thing I spend it on is "warrior training" and "choose warrior aspect" and the latter only if I don't already have a lifestyle trait (which I usually do by that point).
