Advice regarding DLCs

I spent whole summer free of CK II (and autumn, and winter) and now checking out what is new.
From old ones I do not have Charlemagne (I bought some pack on discount without Charle and without WoL, bought WoL seperately).
From new ones I lack Horse Lords, Conclave.

As well I lack some unit and clothing and music packs, which does not matter so much. Except I want Finno-Ugric/ Baltic portraits for personal reasons

Big DLCs is ~15 EUR on steam. Smaller 3-5 EUR each.

Some questions - any discounts any time soon?
And more important - which of those would you recommend as the first priority? What is your personal experience with them? Which ones you would suggest and which ones not?

Also do they make game slower or not? I had some issues with my laptop when (I think Greek castration was blamed) I had very low speed late into game.

It really depends on your preferred style.

Get Horse Lords if you often play as Nomads, get Charlemagne if you want an earlier start date and want to play as the big guy himself, get Conclave if you want a more realistic form of feudal government.

It's expensive, but it's all good stuff.

So, I am passing on Charlie again

Conclave from what I have read is nice. Adding an extra difficulty in keeping the realm together is nice, something that I wanted.

Nomads hm... I guess I want to try them out, this I am still undecided.

If you play in 2.5, then it's a waste to not buy Conclave. CM isn't a very interesting one to get. HL, If you don't want to play as nomads don't bother buying it, the only thing you will get is to be rolled over by infinite doom stacks of horse-archers.

There is this "pay tribute" feature. Does that work without HL?

The new policy of Paradox with big expansions is to change core mechanics in the free patch, and add one or 2 expansion-only feature to deal with the change, making it mandatory to buy it unless you want to play frustrated and angry.

My advice : play in 2.4.5, avoid conclave (and the patch that goes with it). Charlemagne is definitely not worth its price, and should be bought under a steam sale.

The game is slow since Rajas and is still as slow.

Honestly I never used it.

You can actually do pretty well without Conclave on last patch. People seem to have learn to play/adapt issues. Not that new mechanics are any good.

HL in my opinion is a must have when you play as nomand of course but also when you play near the nomand areas (Persia, Siberia, kotan) because otherwise they are just unflavored tribal which is boring.
CM di I like personally but is olso the uselesed one. It just adds a start date and viceroys. The start date is interesting but very unbalanced and becomes extremely ahistoric over time. Viceroys don't work very well when used extensively.
CC is awesome! Best DLC in my opinion. Game gets hard but still manageable when you understand the new mechanics.

As far as I know non DLC effects the performance.

So, Horse Lords + Conclave + Conclave content (for my Baltic faces) = 35 EUR (on Steam).
Any chance they get bundled into some cheaper deal any soon? When were the last discounts? Christmas time?

I can't say when the next sale will be but there is one every twonor three months. I don't think CC will be a sale very soon. I suggest buy CC now and wait for the other two. CC is the only one that alters the hole game the other two just a specific time or area.

The DLC go on sale pretty regularly at Steam. Though the just released won't be, of course, and the ones just slightly newer than that will probably be on less of a sale than the older DLC.
