I'll admit, I got bored with a couple of games I've got going on once the challenge seemed to be gone. Have one where the Netherlands has gobbled up most of the low countries, England & parts of France while colonizing the hell out of the new world. Likewise have one where I formed a Russian juggernaut and am pushing towards China. Not that I'm a great player mind you but so long as I can keep some distance between myself and Austria I usually do ok.
Anyways, just to stay busy last night I started a new game as Poland just to see how it would go. By luck I almost immediately got a five star statesman to build up my tech level and went on to quickly peace out with the GH thinking that it would be wise to conserve Poland/Lithuanian strength for later in the game since the peace settlement didn't really hurt us. Kind of figure I can go nomad hunting once they start to break up in twenty to forty years. Also got five merchants each in Novgorod, Lubeck & Venice in pretty short order, then royal marriages with Mazovia, Moldovia, Austria, Bohemia and Muscowy plus an alliance with Mazovia and Austria.
Now, the question is the best way to go from there. Am quietly building up my income and tech though it is only about 1405 at the moment. My military quickly squished Brandenburg in a war the Austrians drug us into but we got jack in the peace settlement and I'm working towards vassalizing Mazovia per my mission though they are in Bohemia's sphere of influence. Just wondered which way some of the more experienced players would go or if I'm overlooking any opportunities. Kind of get the feeling that I'm missing something. :glare:
