Hey guys. I went for a quick game of Manchu to get the 200 provinces of grain/lifestock (180ish at the moment), and I just feel like I am not utilizing the power of hordes quite enough at the moment. Global trade just spawned (what the hell English Channel worth 60ish dukats!?) and we are moving into the Age of Absolutism, which will make conquest go even faster.
Being a horde, I have no problem with monarch points whatsoever, even when I had rulers that were utter garbage for the first 60 years or so of the game. I went humanism (I see no other first choice for one of the Manchu tribes) into influence, administrative, and then diplomatic ideas. Looking back, I sort of think exploration would've been a great choice as a second pick (or even third or fourth), letting me get Manchu culture states (colonizing Phillipines, etc) to recruit even more banner regiments from. However, influence, diplomatic, and administratives are just seem too great for this sort of blobbing game to skip out on.
It's a fairly standard Europe with the exception of the partinioning of the Commonwealth already having happened. I am currently engaged in a war with the Marmadukes so I can finally get a border to start wearing the Ottomen down, although I may take on Russia first just to open up a front further to the west going into Scandinavia. I also intend to get provinces bordering to Ethiopia or the minors in the Arabian peninsula so I can start building trade companies in Africa. I should probably have beelined for them sooner, but I've pretty much been at 100% overextension for as much time as I've been able, even going above to let me eat up secondary participants in wars. The muslim world hates me, no one else gives a crap about what I've been doing (well, the Hindu aren't too happy either, but they're almost gone).
I really loved this gameplay and am contemplating a rerun with greater goals, maybe going for one tag (which I think I could feasibly accomplish in this game anyhow) or one faith (can Manchu even accomplish that?), so some insights into the early Manchu game would be appreciated as well.
Is there any benefit to swapping into Qing once Winperialism is unlocked? I feel like everything would improve substantially, except I would lose the power of razing. The monarch points are not as bountiful as in the early game, but reducing ~130% overextension to less than 100 with razing is just too good to give up, right?
