Playing Ottomans, year 1547 now, using Death & Taxes mod. Using a small modification that gives me a modifier that lowers infamy by 1.50 each year & incerases limit by 10 (the world hates me enough anyway, so the "support revolt" spam of every single neighbour stimulates the hate enough).

Had some problems initially, was on the verge of collapsing to rebels (was declared target of crusade about 3-4 times in a row, with most European major powers declaring war on me every few years/decades, at one point I had half my nation filled with rebels while I was fighting off the major powers on the other side). But still, not a single major defeat on my sheet (all the defeats I've had were me paying off tribute, no defeat was large enough for me to not be able to recover).

I guess I made a mistake by trying to westernize, as that was part of the reason of the almost-collapse as I was in negative stability for several decades in a row. One bonus tho - I now have experience playing with the most unstable nation possible, getting rebels every few weeks and holding large part of its history with stability below 0. And I was actually on the verge of failing my westernization - I had declared war on Austria so I could rack up army tradition for military westernization. Eventually I ended up being at war with Poland, Austria, Venice, Aquiela, Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Poland, Denmark and some other, less important nations. Of course I was dominating them all, but I was really having problems with my troop numbers - attrition, battles & sieges had most of my forces at very low numbers and it was getting complicated to fight all the nations that were pumping out new, fresh, fully-reinforced troops all the time. Barely managed to slip thru without one of those retarded stabhits from westernization and managed to westernize military. I haven't westernized trade and I don't plan to, it's not important and not worth the trouble, might do it when I randomly meet the requirements and don't have any plans so I can take the stabhit.

I'm managing to keep up with the European powers in land tech, tho, but the rest of my tech is backwards, once again, partly thanks to stability hits that I had to recover from - I couldn't even research anything properly.

Here's screenshots from the game, detailing the situation -

So, what are the suggestions? What should I go for? Anything I've done wrong so far except the obvious westernization part which made me even more backwards due to the wasted money on stab recovery?

Just some notes - can't annex Croatia, they're garuanteed by Lithuania, that'd be a risky war due to the large front, rebels everywhere & the fact that Bohemia hates me and that I have Austrian cores, so I'd risk a 2 front war and I'd simply get drawn into another annoying whack-a-mole-with-armies-that-have-no-infantry-left-due-to-annoying-sieges (my army composition is 8 inf, 4 cav and 3 art, I'm thinking to add 2 more inf when I get more forcelimits so I can have easier sieges & don't need to use multiple armies for 1 siege so frequently).

I did garuantee every Lithuanian neighbour to the east, tho, so they'd stop their expansion. And if they don't - I'll atleast have Lithuanians locked to fighting against another enemy and it'll be easier to pick off their armies. Right now I'm wondering which of the 3 directions should I go for - HRE, Lithuania or the Middle East (the latter seems a bit pointless and a waste of resources, right now east is quite easy on rebels and I don't want to have both east and west constantly rebelling).

Aaaand Hungary seems an easy target, but they're allied with Brandenburg and, IIRC, garuanteed by Lithuania, so that's fighting 2 majors (altho I don't take Brandenburg serious).

Also - playing without inflation, set to "From gold" only.

Oh, and if you noticed, I also have some pointless colony in Somalia that I made just for the sake of having it, no point in it, tho, but it has some income from slaves, so meh...

if, your 83 carracks are giving you naval superiority, why havent you used that advantage to conquer italy and iberia?, since those areas are far richer and easier to defend than most of what you own in the balkans.

Because I can't rely on naval superiority. I've only got 14 transports and if I want more - I have to get rid of my fighting naval force and replace it with transports, which means I lose naval dominance and makes such invasions even harder. Plus, Castille has 73k troops, if I invade Iberia - I'll be facing Leon, Castille and France, which I can't defeat with my empire split in two. I'd have to also constantly transport troops between my Balkan/Turkish/Arab possessions to Italy/Iberia and that'd have the risk of being intercepted by enemies or simply being outnumbered and me being unable to send reinforcements due to wars in Turkish possessions.

I've already fought multiple wars with Lithuania and those relied on defensive tactics - scorched earth > retreat > attack weakened troops, because they've always attacked me when I'm the least ready (and fighting others), so if I risk splitting my empire by water - I'll have to also risk having less troops against my giant enemies.

I do have plans to attack into Italy, tho, but I want to do it by land, because otherwise there's too much risk involved if I end up facing a coalition of some naval powers and I'd just get dominated. Those are caravels, tho, I have the poorest naval technology in all of Europe, so that further shows why I should be worried - if my navy would get defeated, that'd mean a serious loss, plus I can't split my army so much, I've already got a ton of territories to cover from rebels and attacks from other nations (lately, tho, the attacks have lowered, guess it's thanks to the fact that none dares to crusade against me & that the Arab nations are too scared of me, altho I've had a lot of wars declared by nations that were too weak to do any harm against me which got me some benefit, so there's still risk of one of those weak nations warring me when I have my whole army in Balkans, Iberia and Italy).

Also - at all times, atleast 2-3 armies of 15 regiments are on rebel-hunting duties. I had one major war (when I was crusaded against by multiple nations in seperate wars) where I sent all my troops to fighting and disregarded rebels, that almost caused me to lose, so I can't let rebels win again. Even with those 3 armies I sometimes have trouble getting rid of them in a war, since I can't send reinforcements to finish off a large rebel army etc. So that lowers my available troops even more.

Oh well, didn't get much of suggestions, so I just went for it. Completely destroyed Lithuania and all their Russian minor allies (vassalized all that I could), now Bohemia is ganging up on them, so I'll quickly re-deploy troops to Bohemian border and surprise attack them. Croatia, an OPM with no allies (thanks to me), declared war on me, they're invading me with their 4 regiment army, what a disaster for the Ottomans.

It seems like it might be a good idea to go peaceful for a bit. You've already carved out a pretty nice chunk of territory for yourself. Try and get out of all the wars you have going on, then recover your stability/finish the westernization process. After that is done you'll be able to resume your conquests more easily.
]
Also while you're at this, try and work on getting your centralization slider up. You might take a stab hit or two doing so, but it will make things a lot easier for you (imo fully centralized is still the best option despite the reworks to the sliders in d&t).

Well, centralisation is really bad for such a huge empire. The 3% minimum revolt risk, +3% revolt risk & 50% stab cost is not worth it, altho I've got enough cores for the modifier to not pop up, but I really need to expand if I want to keep my dominance. I guess I'll just go with my old tactic since there's not much of suggestions anyway and some problems are popping up, like Bohemia doing... guess what - BLOBBING, yay! So yeah, I just declared war on them and I'm about to wipe them off the map. I'll abandon westernization tho since Ottoman tech has 100% efficiency anyway + I can't westernize trade tech due to me having too low efficiency and those huge stab hits will just drain my teching up.

Thanks for the advice, tho.

Sometimes you just have to go for it.
looks like you are doing ok to me.
IMHO could ditch a few galleys the shock is good but they don't have the staying power of the transports.
Just crush them!

Yeh, I'm not even sure why I asked for advice. :D In this scenario I can really just crush all my enemies, lol.
