Advice needed.

hey whats up, im trying to take out the enigmatic fortress, i know that a battle cruiser with nothing but giga cannons will out range it, is there a way to get a few of those battle cruisers outside of the range of the fortress and stop in place? i send them into battle, they can shoot the fortress without getting hit but they keep pushing forward until they are in range of it and die, anyway to have my ships not get closer as they fire?

Nope. All fleets gradually close in. Even the battleships.
