ADVICE: Is it worth it to join that war?

Germany and UK are allied.
Romania and Poland and the Baltic countries are allied.
France (me) and Italy are allied.

Soviet attack Latvia triggering their alliance.
Italy attacks Greece, Greece joins the Polish Faction.

I have claims on Crete and the Aegean island and I'd like to take them but I'm afraid that the Soviet will rack-up too much of a war score and take everything anyway. My Stability is around 50% so an offensive war leaves me open to all sorts of nasty events but I think this war would not last very long. Can I get warscore for myself if I attack Romania through Italian controlled Yugoslavia?

Another question, how can I check the current line-up of countries considered majors? I'm also eyeing Belgium but these guy would join the commonwealth of nations for sure... I need to assess how many of their members I'd need to knock out of the war...

I'd check how much warscore the currently involved countries on your side of the war have (i.e. Italy, Soviets and whoever else there is). You'd probably need to overtake the Italians at least. The Soviets won't be able to take everything for themselves immediately because they are in a different faction and states occupied by you/Italy will be rather expensive for them. Also note the communist AI will try to create a contiguous set of puppets, so Greece will not be first on their list at all.

Yes, you'll get warscore. Most of it is awarded for won battles and if your troops take provinces you'll get points even when the provinces are then awarded to Italy.

Alright I jumped into the fray and fought along side the others and got a 18% warscore and Italy 9%. USSR took polish and baltic land and puppeted Poland and Czechoslovakia. I got my two greek provinces and puppeted Greece and Romania (minus bessarabia). 9% didn't allow italy to get anything. Harsh.
