I'am fairly new at playing HoI but I play other Paradox titles for a while. Following my experiences I wanted to start with smaller Nations and one of them was Siam. I was quite successful in building up a small Army with Infantry and Artillery and joined the Axis. I even was declaring a limited war of conquest against GB for Singapore and I was already sieging the harbor, when my question stroke: There is an event, where Japan – at this point an Axis Member too – demanded from me, that I… join the Axis. That is paradoxical enough, but instead of being able to say: “Well, I’m already in.” I only have the choice of “joining” again – which actually makes me a pupped of Japan or decline which leads to Japan declaring war against me… and thus the Rest of the Axis, e. g. Germany, Italy and some other smaller countries too.
Is this really WAD? What is your advice to handle the situation?

What version are you playing?

Basically you will want to edit files within the Events and Decisions folders (copy and save the original before editing) in which 1) Japan pressures Siam and 2) where Vichy France hands Indochina over to Japan. I used to play Siam alot and would do this and then have a good game from there.

It's the actual version with all maior addons/DLCs. Finest Hour 4.02. I'm not that well versed with modding, but I guess I would have to add a line that basically says: “Only available if Siam is not in the Axis.”?

Yeah, its just screwed up. If you are in axis it should really be. Japan puts pressure on Siam to be puppet. Do you : accept or go to war. If you go to war it should drop you out of the Axis IMO.

Siam can actually be pretty helpful to the axis. Taking Singapore is easy and its very possible to take India. You can build a fairly decent navy if you decide to make that your focus from day 1.

Im not sure if the files change with each version or i would do it for you. Ask the following in the mod forum;

If someone would mind editing out 1) Japans pressure on Siam and 2) Japans demand for indochina on FTM...

Im sure someone can help you, we have a bunch of good guys. Then all you do is take the two files and place them in the appropriate folder (remove and save the regular ones).

You should familiarize yourself with how to do this. Simply open up your HOI3 folders and look around...

Save it before the decision, accept it(becoming a puppet), save another copy. (Do not unpause game)

Open up the copy of the save in notepad, notepad++ is preferred, and simply remove yourself from the list of Japan's puppets. It is found relatively early on in the save file, near the faction list. If not, just search for Manchukuo(sp?) or Mengkukuo(sp?) because they are also puppets. Make sure you completely erase the line your name is in.
