Don’t get me wrong, I love paradox games, in fact I think they are the best since starcraft was released but I just can’t figure out how is it that they release games so full of bugs and unbalanced things.

My guess is that nobody bothers to make such complicated games, and so when paradox does so, they are inevitably full of bugs. The rest tend to be straightforward and scripted or at least much more than paradox games are.
I can’t wait to play hoi2 but I rather wait than have it available but on my desk until v1.0x is released.

I think that concentrating on beta testing it with the community would be a good start. I don’t really know if they are already doing that but if they do, I guess that they didn’t work it out well at least with past games.

Advanced squad leader? That’s really cool! I have the original tabletop game but I soon gave up. It was to darn complicated for me at least, but having all that rules and tables into the code would make things much easier for the player. I though that those WWII games by Microsoft had the code based on ASL. I guess I was either wrong or that they got it before and now have released it to paradox.

Anyway I think we have a great horizon of computer games. Can’t wait!

Odds are that a late November release should be expected. Since the US seems to be the bulk of the sales, the x-mas buying season starts with our Thanksgiving. This insures that they should receive a return on their investment in less than a year.

If it was a late November release, it would be about the same time as with the original HOI back 2 years ago. I do recall it was at that time, right after Thanksgiving when I purchased HOI. That would be my guess at this time as well.

Too many rules in ASL?! You can never have too many rules!

I remember memorizing enough enormous binders full of rules to fill up at least one shelf...

It's an X-Box only (iirc) open-ended role playing game. I'd recommend doing a search on Google or checking out some gaming websites if you want to know more... derailing threads is ebil. Which is why I did precisely that with my ASL comments. Bwahahahahah!! :D

Well I think those games are for people like you that can memorise tons of data or for people that happen to know one such person and benefit from his work ;) If not you are out of luck! I sometimes have a hard time remembering the die roll needed to obtain an impact in warhammer 40.000 for a given weapon’s ability and they are just 3!, so I guess I can hardly play ASL with it's docens of tables, die roll modifiers and so on so on.

Either way I think that if you have to study hours to play a game it’s certainly not worth it, but that is just my opinion. Perhaps people with far greater memo skill find it fun to memorize countless data, I don't really know.

I think the best way to go is implement those manuals in the code and make it a pc game. There are many tabletop games that are better played in a pc (and many others that don't), but I would say that ASL is certainly one that is better played on a pc, at least for people like me. :eek:o

I memorised enough in the university for three lifetimes man!
