Il make one today for you. Join my xbl and ask questions while i do it if you want, bare in mind 15 second dely and you will prob have to mute me in party cause it will get confusing
It will be on twitch, but public. Youtube has hoops ive not jumped through yet
My twitch is a snowflake free zone, my language normally quite bad, so if you have kids local dont have me on speakers

Indevidual to your needs, what did you need too know???
How to make traffic beheave??? Without traffic manager
How to decorate without move it??
How to create turbines and stack interchanges??? A guy has done a series on these in vanilla already so i wont repeat, thats on YT
How to create a waterfall garden without water sources ???

The diverging diamond/part clover are not possible to make work

Ok thanks i have twitch so i will add you at some point very soon. i am on PS though so cant add you on xbl. It is more about city & road design as my cities end up a bit patchy and do not flow anywhere near as a lot others. what time or days do you tend to stream, bare in mind i am in the UK

i am also in uk, i dont always stream raw, it gives a bad veiwer to time on stream ratio
so my series Frozen Falls is at part 5 right now. i generally make video summerys of progress, they normally are a 30-60 min chat and fly around city. its normally an abridged version of 4-8 hours work. (hense ratio)
i dont use a chat companion (phone), my phone is nokia brick
you can get a silver XBL through phone and party me / view activity through that

i normally stream proper late also 10pm - 6am. no i dont sleep. but im awake now for once like before midday, (not normal for me)
iv also not played lately cause ive been on a host of other stuff. but il come on to grab a sub
ive been putting off a MASSIVE project TBH and a kick up my bum wouldnt hurt

Ive also just reposted my end of chat here when we got moved, i thought others would like to see. / realevent
And that also ive now started my city development diary here on different tab on forum
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/frozen-falls-pt-5-and-onwards-console-build.1506475/

there is also a guy called noobbuildscities, he streams on twitch from ps with a pc as chat companion
Lots of nice work with quay wall and style buildings. he helped me loads with my VOD settings and features of twitch im just learning it atm. (like the fact i can record)

i cant have my twitch streaming and my browser running together.
il put up a video that will start with the sumerary of what im about to do and then il kill stream to create stop point for a VOD. you can then decide if its something you would watch
then il publish with browser and restart stream of the raw 4-8 hour grind of me doing it, i will stream the build today, i cant build and chat much together cause ive got 100 things going on in my head

i sh1t you not this one is a rough on the builder crazy build, pushing the console engine as far as it will go.
its a fantasy/utopia build

bare in mind once i stream i cant reply here

Not sure what that means?

How big is your current city (tiles and population)

What exact problems are you having?

The main thing i see a lot of done wrong in cities that are not made by pros
People dont use local shoppies, the clump all colours in blobs or stips

People use a grid, but they dont repect the flow of the terrain - they wont break the grid
Yumble does good videos on starting the basic shape, great work with geo-metrics following terrain
The priciples he uses are still valid to console although to keep a console city flowing at higher pops you have to do a little more
My city is a little built up (and all white) for some one just making sense of my network on a passing glance

They use too many 4LN roads, they dont understand the main use of 4 lane roads.
Use them as "through" roads, OR busy a commersre roads, they wont do both at same time
A through road should have very few entrances or exits
Cityplannerplays does a great series on road hierarchy
Which basically do same as i just said, the trunk road is key

They just contiune to out growth the same grid. Instead of knocking an rebuilding areas, buildings re grow
They dont remove all traffic lights. TLs are worse 99% of time. My city of 60k has 2 junctions with traffic lights as an example
They dont get a proper out growth of their HW system, they wont knock down 20% of city to build a turbine/stack that it needs to grow 100%
Stock vanilla clover leafs are completly temporary for 4way interchanges, either find a way to avoid Using 4/3 way interchanges or learn to build your own

The main thing that happens in vanilla that people are not ready for is despawning.
This messes up death care/garbage a lot, it will just stop it working
It happens with major grid lock. Avoid grid locks

You see i throw everything and the kitchen sink at my traffic. And im pretty confident that i could double my pop without much extra hassle
Ive got 8 rail freight yards, removing all trucks from my roads. Also basically a ring, 1small one off side of 1big 1 really
Ive got a ring road of passenger line, it goes both ways

Ive got a system of bubbles, not allowing cars out of their bubble, people - yes all day
A back web of paths, paths murder traffic
Trams running behind/through my zones, tram routes cover 80% of destinations, 10% is covered by something else. 10% is not covered
The tram network is fully intergrated with other forms of mass transit
Underground is my ace in my back pocket

I dont highly educate all my people, i keep spuds spuddy and local to work they can do

I also use extensive lane maths and make sure i get my turning lanes
I never join at right angles on roads that wont like it (roads that need to flow)
I split my ends on 4 lane to roundabouts

Ive resently used a service interchange from over charged egg.
Quite big, but not big in wrong way, it prevents the turning right across traffic issue.

But is there a good video about this on YT? I have seen tons of video's. But most video's is like don't do this or don't do that but they never tell you what to do instead. For example I try to follow the road hierarchy but a certain point I always have to stop following that hierarchy because you shouldn't zone next to large roads but you are running out of space in your city to zone

well il do a short specially for you next time i play, stuff YT guys for me right now its hoops i cant jump through
YT is same 4 guys doing moderately interesting things on PC with all the tools
The guys do their stuff, fair nuff. Not 1 thinks outside the box, gets adventurous with terrain or water
Yes the odd 1 does some silly challenge or idea, but they never try and turn that into a functional city or continue the same theme
They are sat there with all the tools making a city that looks about as good as something i did on SC2K when i was 13. Same cr4p different day, no imagination or adventure

But im old school, really old school.
So my tools in the day were simcitys 1-4 and OpenTTD, well i got bored of building "real" citys well long ago.
I have to make things a challenge, cause the game just isnt. I push the envelope of the engine as far as it will go
So i took TTD, put my HQ on tiny island with tiny village and attempted to turn that into largest city on map, by building its growth spots for it

Wide roads are great, until you give them a junction
TY for correct spelling of hierarchy

Never ever ever stop following road hierarchy. - Unless delberatly trying to create a jam just for asphetic reasons, something il have to look into maybe
You miss understand the concept, you learn wrong lesson from the term.
Is has nothing to do with not building on trunk roads, ***see below
Its about Dense Res zones R1-R4 all being on dirt roads if you want, (and they will with no issues)
But when all 4 zones worth of pops got on same road, that road was at least 4 lanes and they got most of the journey done without interuptions

its about weither or not you "allow" them to "not use" trunk by taking short cut through your zone
You know anti skate boarding studs yeah??
Well i do same to cars in my citys, i make the journey longer, to make the over supplied MT more favourable, which in turn make traveling by car easier
this technically can cause minor issues with death care if i skimp, but it works better than having grid lock

****
not allowing buildings on wide roads is easy, just road the other side and fence the wide boy.
You will just have a fenced building facing 180° other way - you prob wont notice

****
not that i bother doing this in Frozen falls cause nobody really drives round my city anyways.

There are no steadfast rules for this game. Advice means it is optional. You can build in many different ways. It is perfectly fine to build on large roads just fine. You just need to be aware of the consequences of building on the road. for example, if it is already busy, it would be inadvisable to build on the road.

Maybe if you post a problem you are haing, then maybe we can give specific advice. It is really hard to guess what your needs are. This game is a freeform type game to build any way you want.

How big is your city (population, tiles unlocked, etc.)?

Have you anything like this, right now. or further along?

You don't need to respond to my messages. We are helping the OP together. We need for them to respond so we know what is going on with them. Guessing won't help much if we have no information to go on.

Agreed but as we are doing this together and we do have some experience with vanilla a chit chat bouncing ideas off each other is just renforcing each other. This would also make a great start to series on build tips for vanilla. This is a vanilla issue also and not just console

Id like some input from your self RE; my city, my content, my solutions
Its a pretty good assumpion due to that being the pop that will clog a vanilla 4 way clover
As my video stated, learn how to build a stack or a turbine in vanila

This may be a good idea, but this is not our thread. It is someone else's thread. It may be easier to start a new thread, then link other threads to it, like the videos you've made. Just make sure the first several posts are reserved for you to update the thread as it grows over time.
