But is there a good video about this on YT? I have seen tons of video's. But most video's is like don't do this or don't do that but they never tell you what to do instead. For example I try to follow the road hierarchy but a certain point I always have to stop following that hierarchy because you shouldn't zone next to large roads but you are running out of space in your city to zone
well il do a short specially for you next time i play, stuff YT guys for me right now its hoops i cant jump through
YT is same 4 guys doing moderately interesting things on PC with all the tools
The guys do their stuff, fair nuff. Not 1 thinks outside the box, gets adventurous with terrain or water
Yes the odd 1 does some silly challenge or idea, but they never try and turn that into a functional city or continue the same theme
They are sat there with all the tools making a city that looks about as good as something i did on SC2K when i was 13. Same cr4p different day, no imagination or adventure
But im old school, really old school.
So my tools in the day were simcitys 1-4 and OpenTTD, well i got bored of building "real" citys well long ago.
I have to make things a challenge, cause the game just isnt. I push the envelope of the engine as far as it will go
So i took TTD, put my HQ on tiny island with tiny village and attempted to turn that into largest city on map, by building its growth spots for it
Wide roads are great, until you give them a junction
TY for correct spelling of hierarchy
Never ever ever stop following road hierarchy. - Unless delberatly trying to create a jam just for asphetic reasons, something il have to look into maybe
You miss understand the concept, you learn wrong lesson from the term.
Is has nothing to do with not building on trunk roads, ***see below
Its about Dense Res zones R1-R4 all being on dirt roads if you want, (and they will with no issues)
But when all 4 zones worth of pops got on same road, that road was at least 4 lanes and they got most of the journey done without interuptions
its about weither or not you "allow" them to "not use" trunk by taking short cut through your zone
You know anti skate boarding studs yeah??
Well i do same to cars in my citys, i make the journey longer, to make the over supplied MT more favourable, which in turn make traveling by car easier
this technically can cause minor issues with death care if i skimp, but it works better than having grid lock

not allowing buildings on wide roads is easy, just road the other side and fence the wide boy.
You will just have a fenced building facing 180° other way - you prob wont notice

not that i bother doing this in Frozen falls cause nobody really drives round my city anyways.
