That's not particularly fast IMO.
I just timed it (from 1. January 1400 to 1. January 1401, fully zoomed out and max speed):
32.5 seconds, including an auto-save (taking a few seconds) on 1. July.

I'm running a 3.4 GHz quad-core, overclocked to 3.867 GHz, 8 GB of 1600 MHz RAM, and a Radeon HD 5870.
