HBS said no microtransations, but hey also said no publisher when we kickstarted the game. I hope they can keep this promise. I'm okay with expansions that contain more content, but not buyable skins.

I don't really see a hot market for premium-pricing on paint jobs in a mod-friendly single player game. I'm putting that quite far down on my list of concerns; quite, quite far down.
What we really need is a UI to switch the color schemes in the campaign. They already have a few alternatives with some streamers having different color schemes from one another (on certain mechs) or OPFOR mechs sporting different schemes, but I don't see an in-game toggle on this.

WIll people be making skins for this game? Wont that break their ability to play MP? Or, like WoT, skins wont count as cheating and not break the game for them?
Huh? 40 bucks? How does $5 a skin for 36 mechs equal 40? More like $180 and thats for 1 skin for each mech from 1 person. Now go and make 2, 3, 4 skins per mech and sell em.
Idk, 5-10 bucks a skin, its how planetside 2 did it and they have universal skins, 1 skin covers 7 classes, every gun and every vehicle from 3 factions. I bought, eh, 6-7 different skins there.
I guess I missed ur point...
Or what? Like other games, a single skin for 1 variant of 1 mech should be $30? So if u wanna skin a CN9-A and a CN9-AL, we should have to buy the skin twice, despite it being the exact same mech? That sounds like russian dev greedy [Mod edit: Language]
Armored warfare does just that, sells u an entirely new copy pasta of a t-72 for $70 just so u can have it in blue....
He's saying that you get the game for $40 and $5 a skin is too much.
....different camo patterns like the one that the Backers and pre-orders get for the Shadowhawk.
How dose one get the gencon firestarter? There are only three custom skins we know of:
HBS has previously expressed a hard-line stance on micro-transactions; to use a Mitch-ism: "No."
- Backer Atlas
- GenCon Firestarter
- Pre-order Shadow Hawk
One had to back the game at GenCon before the Kickstarter campaign. How dose one get the gencon firestarter?

I don't recall HBS ever saying that they would not be working with a publisher.HBS said no microtransations, but hey also said no publisher when we kickstarted the game. I hope they can keep this promise. I'm okay with expansions that contain more content, but not buyable skins.
Nope.I just noticed on @HBS_Eck's stream from earlier today that there's a "Pattern" option next to a paintbrush in the mechlab, on the bottom-right:

And his mechs definitely have different paint patterns than what I've seen from streamers using the pre-release build. "3" was the highest number I noticed, but if there's at least three, then I'm guessing they're not just for being a Valhalla-level backer.
