even with the spectacular mod system I still feel like 3 mod slots and two item slots is not enough for hero’s. I would really like to see additional item slots.

One idea is to introduce Two primary and secondary weapon slots as it would add more strategic combat options, give greater meaning to item rewards and it would allow for a hero in a vehicle to have a weapon when they leave it. Thus adding versatility without making the hero any more powerful or unbalancing them.

What do you think?

Thank you for your reply sinsling This idea was about adding more versatility without stat stacking heroes as you call it. As you know primary and secondary weapons give you an attack option and don’t add stats to your hero in any way. This idea is about doubling these slots so instead of 2 attack options you have 4.

Ah, but that is a form of stat stacking.

1) vehicles provide additional health and/or defensive stats

2) certain primaries offer immensely powerful effects

3) same can be said of certain secondary weapon

It might not sound like stat stacking at first, but imagine a hero in a laser tank using a powerful t4 primary weapon that is better than the tank's primary. Heroes that bring double rocket launchers. Someone who has death's gaze + the healing version of it by some stroke of luck. So many possible combinations to take advantage of.

I still do not see how this idea would make heroes any more powerful only more versatile. As heroes could only use 1 item at a time, The same goes for vehicles the hero would either be in the vehicle using its normal rules or if the vehicle were destroyed they could then use the other weapon.

That is what your secondary weapon slot is meant for. Choosing to put something like a rocket launcher there instead is an intentional choice to not have a backup weapon when the vehicle is destroyed. I believe I already pointed out the issue with multiple secondary weapon slots.

Thank you for your thorough attempt to challenge this idea and highlight every possible disadvantage. It is good to know that the only argument that can be found is that in a very limited situation heroes can have a slightly higher advantage over units. I am sure the developers and keen players like yourself could quickly balance this almost insignificant situation or find an easy way to remedy it.

One way to improve the power of units would be to add a secondary weapon slot to most units.

With the benefits of two primary and secondary weapon slots on heroes being;

1. Heroes become much more versatile.

  1. Greater importance of collecting items.
  2. Greater importance of undertaking quests & challenges.
  3. Allows for greater customisation and options.
  4. Makes the game much more fun and interesting.
Far outweighing the one easily remedied disadvantage.

I fully agree with Sinsling, but apart from focussing on stat stacking, just think what this would enable game-play wise - I am sorry if I misunderstand, but your call for "versatility" sounds to me like a call for the "one man army" that is a melee monster with a powerful rifle and stagger resistance.
The limited space for weapons and mods leads to meaningful decisions in regards to what role your unit is playing in the battles because it can't be everything at once.
Therefore I think your suggestion would not make the game more fun and interesting. There are many things in this game that could be improved, but the mod/weapon slot system is in a good spot imho.
