I have enjoyed your game for quite some time now and as a software developer and as an aspiring game creator currently studying at DADIU I am wondering about a few things and choices about your game. Though I am only gonna talk about one of them in this post.
I am wondering why Paradox (EU4 department) haven't made multiplayer achievements yet. I know it wouldn't really make sense in the way that you would be able to mess with the achievements by playing different countries, but what I'm suggesting is that you copy all of your current achievements and make the copies CO-OP (or TacTeam as your friend/acquainted Arumba calls it) achievements, to earn these achievements you would need to play online with your friend both as the same country (this is a feature already in the game) and with no other players in the map (private session hosting).
Depending on how you have coded EU4 and what language it is in this should be possible without any major changes to the current code, if you can easily acquire the data from your code when the achievements have to check if you fulfill the requirements to unlock one. Since the achievements are already in the game you would only need to check for the known requirements of the original achievements requirements and additionally that there's only 2 players and that they are playing the same country I'm imagining something like this:
if (players < 2 && Player1.countryTag == Player2.countryTag) {
Other requirements for the achievement to fire and stuff (don't know your code)
}
Now why should you add this? Since I know you look at this game as a single player experience.
I would argue that right now players that doesn't feel very strong in EU4 single player doesn't really have anywhere to go other than videos online or playing for hundreds of hours before different things starts to make sense for them. But they might know someone who has played it and they can show it to them by either playing as the same country or as different countries within the same game. But adding the co-op achievements would give them a goal or something they had to do other than just learning the game which would be the reward for both the teacher as well as the apprentice when they play a game.
Furthermore this might even bring in new people as players that might not have friends with the game (potential customers) would (maybe) be willing to introduce new players to the game such that they could hunt for those achievements together.
Also 2 veteran players might not individually have gotten world domination or other bigger achievements, but might find i fun to reach for the achievements together rather than alone. Should they have tried a few times single handed, but been unsuccessful.
Now i could come with more examples, but this is getting to long to read. I believe you got the idea and why I think it would add value to the game at a low cost. I would of cause love to hear your input on the matter (pro's and con's) even though that's a bit much to ask as a single aspiring game creator, but for that you have my Email or this thread.
Have a nice day and keep up the good work all of you working on EU4!
