I've been experimenting with modding in a more active European presence in the late game, but I've run into a bit of a roadblock with some of the hardcoded features of the engine. I have been able to create a new culture group and get it to generate European family and given names, but cannot seem to make it accept my modified portrait files. I've added in the new files in the graphics folder and adjusted the portraits.gfx file in the interface folder and extended both in my mod, but all of the characters continue to use the standard Sengoku japanese portraits. Any thoughts?

Also, is it possible to reverse the order of names to allow first/last naming for the Westerners?

I guess you need to make a direct path in the portraits.gfx like texturefile = "mod/your mod name/gfx/characters/japanese_male/japanese_male_clothes.dds"

How about categorizing European into "Asian" in the culture txt?

If it is hardcoded, truely pitty, since your mod idea sounds very interesting.
