Now ever since I first bought Victoria more than a year ago, I have been itching to post this question, but never got around to it.
Anyhow, without further ado, I would like to ask all the Vicky Veterans: Is is possible to add an event to the game after having started it?

For example, if I play a few years as a nation, could I then add in an event to represent something happening in the context of the game? My experience has shown that a new game has to be started for the event to be fired through the console. However, some AARs are giving me reason to think otherwise. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

yes. so long as you put the event in an active game file, and use a new event ID, and you set the deathdate to be sometime after the start of your save, you can add any event to a game while in progress and if the trigger conditions match the game situation, the event will fire

the only thing you need to do is restart the game so that the game engine re-reads the event files that now include your new events. If you just pause the game, add the event, and then restart, the game engine will not know you have added an event, since it has not had to read the event files (which it does as it loads up the scenario when you first start a game).
